I am trying to register bthserv.dll in my registry as the bluetooth support service is missing from my services.msc; Dont ask how that happened!

when running the command regsvr32 bthserv.dll im getting the error message;

"the module bthserv.dll was loaded but the entry-point dllregisterserver was not found"

I have also run sfc /scannow, and all is good.

What am i doing wrong?

Im running Win 7 64bit SP1.

Thanks in advance, best forum ever.

Do you actually have that dll on the hard disk? First check, if its there try this. Navigate to the folder syswow64 by typing this in the command prompt and hitting Enter:

cd \windows\syswow64

Then type the command and hit Enter:

regsvr32 <dll path>

For convenience you can place the dll in the syswow64 folder.

Hello!

When a service is completely missing, it is due to a different registry error, and cannot be fixed by re-registering the .dll. What you need is a special .reg fix.

That error message means that Windows has found the .dll, but it isn't a .dll which is supposed to be registered.

Unfortunately, I am in a bit of a mess at the moment, and do not have any Windows 7 PC available to me (or even an install disk - I should have, but still searching through piles and piles of junk which accumulate in my house when my parents aren't around! lol.)

You are going to need to ask one of the other gurus very nicely...

Firstly, are you running SP1? If you are (ideal), the other person must also be running SP1.

To the helpful person (maybe Bill2??)

Please launch regedit, and File > Export > Selected Branch: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\bthserv

Then please upload that .reg file, and badjz can import it.

Please match up SP1 or not!

Thanks very much!

Richard

Hi, Badjz,

Richard asked me to export those registry keys. I have two occurences of ControlSet:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet001\Services\bthserv

and also

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet002\Services\bthserv

I'm not sure which one you required, so have included both here. Let me know if something different is required.

This is from my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1, if that makes any difference.

Regards,
Golden
