that is because the beta build 7000 DOES in fact expire in 14 days. At least download the RC Build 7100 or higher to continue using Windows 7 until 2010.

Hi Dan,

This is NOT a bug. The beta (build 7000) of W7 expires and will not operate after 2nd July. The only thing you can do is to download and install the RC version. Build 7100 is available from Microsoft. Subsequent versions are available, but we cannot give you any links for these. The RC version expires at the end of March 2010, by which time the full retail version should be available.

there is a way to upgrade from beta to RC but it isn't recommended. it would be best if you clean installed aka formatted your system and reinstalled everything. Make sure to backup any files you would need.

One way to do this is to shrink your current partition that you have. Create a new one and place your documents on it. Then delete your OS partition, create a new partition, install your new OS on that. Move your stuff back and resize your partition and delete the one you used for your stuff.

and I posted the link to download the RC a few posts back.

Read this one about why you shouldn't upgrade from Beta to RC: Microsoft: Please Don't Upgrade Win 7 Beta to RC - Tom's Hardware

and read the next part if you MUST upgrade.

From Engineering Windows 7 : Delivering a quality upgrade experience

Here’s what you can do to bypass the check for pre-release upgrade IF YOU REALLY REALLY NEED TO:

  1. Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD.
  2. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build).
  3. Browse to the sources directory.
  4. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.
  5. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below).
  6. Save the file in place with the same name.
  7. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed.

im sure you can upgrade from RC to the Full Version by editing that same file, but again it isn't recommended. you would have to purchase a key but yes, it should work. Windows 7 is due out October 22nd, 2009 I think.

help me pls.

Win 7 build 7000 is beta and will start shuting down every two hours or so. The way to stop that is to upgrade from 7000 to either 7201 or 7260 (if your 32 bit). Its the build not the key that is expiring.

Let me know if you need help

Ken
