Windows 7 Build 7601 Not Genuine

Hi,

There is something wrong with my laptop. I bought this laptop Dell Inspiron 1 year back.
It was working all fine until few days back and then all of a sudden, 2 days back, when I switched it on, it kept processing something and it took ~1.5 hours before I could do anything on it.
Then I noticed message at right bottom

Build 7601
This window is not Genuine

When I did some search on this, it seems like it's issue with some registry and I suspect that could be the reason my laptop is so slow. I saw people recommend to run MGADIAG diagnostics. Here is the snapshot of MGADiag

There is nothing in your report to indicate that you should be getting a non-genuine notification.
Do you see it all the time - or does it come and go?
If the latter, tehn you porbably have a 'race condition' caused by (usually) your anti-virus - which is it?

Hi Noel,

Thanks for your response. It usually come and go. You might be right, it could be because of anti-virus. I was using Norton.
When the whole problem started, I started getting messages in "Action Center" also that there is no anti-virus in system, Window defender is turned off, no spyware etc etc. Don't know how but they (protection, window defender) got turned off automatically. I tried to turn them on, but it wasn't working. So I just uninstalled Norton and Installed MSE.

Please note that, once laptop starts, it works normally as if there was no problem. But if I shut it down, it takes ~2 hours before I could do anything on it. Don't know what it keeps processing. Nothing looks wrong in startup services. And then this message "Window 7 Build 7601 Not genuine" just come and go.

Norton is a cause of more problems than it tries to solve.


Download the Norton Removal Tool from here https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home

Close all other programs, then run the tool. When it's complete, reboot the machine whether it asks for it or not.

I followed your instructions and did reboot my machine. But again it took ~1.5 hours before I could open up browser or anything else on my machine. A

Another thing I have noticed, I have been getting this message from last couple of days. Something like
"Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software file damage, repair it."
When I click on repair, it gets stuck and after sometime gives a message:
"Error 1305. Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Wireless Common\iFrmwrk.exe
Verify file exists and that you can access it".

I checked at given location. File is there. But when i double clicked on it, I got a message
"This feature is not working correctly. Please re-install the feature using the Intel PROSet/Wireless installer and the restart the software".

Do I need to uninstall Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi software and install it again? If yes, I think I will have to download 2nd file from below link

Is that right?

And is this the only software I need to uninstall and re-install? Or there is anything else as well?
