You ask about the chipset, but the only chipset involved is on the motherboard that you listed. Since I detest MSI motherboards, I can't comment about any of the components comprising them. My advise is to not get near enough to touch a MSI motherboard with a 10 foot pole.

It seems that we both have some problems understanding each other, but I would think that my statement about MSI motherboards is pretty clear. However, to be more succinct...choose another brand of motherboard. MSI quality is poor, and their support is worse.

Please give me the opportunity to tell you about MSI. I had a new board that was inoperable and had to be RMA'd. After they kept it for 8 weeks, they returned a used board that someone else had RMA'd, and it would BSOD about 10 times a day. I called tech support and they told me it was my fault because I couldn't use the type of ram I was using. So, I asked if that was true, why was that ram on their QVL list. Then they told me I needed to get a better CPU. I told him it was an AM3 board and I had a PhenomII X6 CPU, so what would he suggest I upgrade to. He hung up on me and they refused to talk to me any more or answer any emails. The board is in the dump right now. Hopefully, this story will clear up any misunderstanding you may have about MSI.

Also, If I were buying an AMD board right now, I would buy an AM3+ board. They are backward compatible with AM3 chips, but will also allow you to update to the new bulldozer chip that is supposed to come out in the next 2 weeks.

Funny but sad...did you consider small claims court?

Yes, I considered it as a matter of principle. But #1 A lawyer and court costs would have cost me more than the board was worth. And I would have probably been without a computer for a year or 2. #2 In order to stabalize the board, I replaced almost everything in the computer, Ram twice, PSU, even the HDs. I figured with what I had already spent, the cost of a new MB (other than MSI) would be of little consiquence.

BTW: I might add that during this process I promised them I would write rviews everywhere I could and explain exactly how MSI treated its customers. I think I just tried to do that. Also, please don't be alarmed if you see this post other places. I will repeat it as often as I can.
