Try this guides:

Stop error message when you put a Windows Vista-based computer in hibernation: "STOP: 0x000000A0 (0x00000009, 0xc0000001, 0x00000001, 0x00000000) INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)"

I appreciate this is for Vista but the error code is identical and I cannot find a microsoft or any other fix for windows 7. This may atleast point in the right direction.

Another possible cause I have seen is that there is insufficient space on the hard drive to save the hibernate file.

It's a known issue, see post #20. Hibernation or sleep look like they work, but when you resume the machine behaves as if it's crashed, and it's specific to Windows 7 SP1 and machines that use a scsi miniport driver (like the OP's Sony does).

Hi guys.
Sorry for the delay in posting. I was caught up in a few other offline issues!
Anyway, before I apply the fix for the sleep/hibernate issues, couple of things that I would like to report:
1. The sleep is working fine: 1. if it's on charge/if the battery doesn't run out/i don't close the lid; the hibernation still doesn't work though.
2. Recently i have started to face a new problem. Everytime i restart, the computer says: "Operating System not found". I have to then forcefully shut the power off. When i boot it again (or when i boot after any shutdown), it works just fine though.

Please advise. Do i apply the fix now? Or are there some diagnostics to be run?

This boot error would suggest your hard drive is failing. First, back up all your important files just in case it gets worse. I would then suggest you run the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostics.

Identify the make of your hard drive and then use one of the links below to get the manufacturers diagnostic for ISO CD. Burn the image file to a CD, boot the PC with the disc in the drive and run the diagnostics. You first need to set the CD drive to 1st in the boot order in the Bios setup.
If you do not have an image burner use this free software to make the CD.

OK, Fujitsu diagnostics is the odd one out as it does not have an ISO available to burn to a disk, I must update my instructions. Sorry you wasted a couple of disks.

The Dos version does have a .txt file that includes instructions and a list of the drives that it can be used on, yours is not included.

You will have to use the first one in the list which is for Windows. Download it to your desktop and then double click on it, it should show your drive when the window opens, this may take a minute or so, be patient. Then select the test you wish to run, I would use the extended test to be more thorough but be aware this may take a long time depending on the size of the drive.

Hi Mark,

It's not working.I downloaded it. & it's also displaying the HD, but somehow I am not being able to select it to run the test. Is it because it's not W7 compatible? The site it says it "Supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista".

I downloaded the hotfix MS sent me. But when I ran it it says that the update is not applicable for my computer.

I'll make a not of that, I would have thought it should run on W7, they don't seem to be keeping things up to date.

The best option is to get Seatools from the Seagate link, this will run on any make of drive and it is an ISO file that can be burned to a CD, you will then be able to boot the PC with it. I have used this myself in W7 so I know for sure this will work.

Hello All!

Nothing seemed to work. And as one of you, probably Mark, had suggested, the hard disk was probably about to crash. Since my laptop was in the (extended) warranty period I took it to the service center. They have now said that they will replace the hard disk. Hopefully this is the end of the issue. But since I refuse to use Vista, if upon installing W7 the same thing reoccurs, I will be back with my stale set of problems again!
