hello all

whenever I'm typing a text on this laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 1818) the cursor (

) changes it's position randomly i.e. to:
cur2.png
.

It is very frustrating as I need to put the cursor back in it's original place again, due to the fact that it jumps to previously typed text. Sometimes it goes back a few words, sometimes it jumps up a few lines. Whenever it jumps back, it jumps in between words or randomly in words like you can see on the second image.

It happens alot (the more I type, the faster it occurs again). I am 100% sure that it's not caused by me touching the touchpad while typing, as I've been looking for 10 minutes now while typing and I can't spot myself touching the pad with my hand, finger or anything else. I tried covering the touchpad with random objects such as a sheet of paper or a creditcard but the problem still occurs.

It happens in any program (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, Notepad,...), even when I'm watching a YouTube-video browsing the comments it's scrolling the page up (never scrolls down).

Is this a well known problem or is it only me? thanks in advance.

Hi, fANAT1C. Do you have any programs installed that are designed to keep your computer from going to sleep or preventing the screensaver?

Hello BriceH

nope I do not, it's a rather clean Windows 7 install.

I installed the laptop 2 days ago and the only additional software is Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Flash Player plugin, Adobe Reader X, CPU-Z, Windows Live Messenger 2009, Java and Xfire.

Could it be that this is a bug because the laptop was made for Windows Vista (the sticker on the laptop says so)? It's a laptop from somewhere in the 2nd quarter of 2007. There are barely any drivers for it that are made for Win 7, they're all Windows Vista drivers. Though I installed 7 on it and the Vista drivers work well. While typing I had my mouse (Logitech G3 gaming mouse) plugged into the laptop, setpoint not installed.

Right now I'm on my other laptop.

thanks for your fast reply.

Even though you've already installed Windows 7 you might want to install and run the Upgrade Advisor.

Having said that, Windows Vista drivers will mostly work under Windows 7.

You might want to check the Logitech G3's settings in Control Panel>Hardware & Sound>Devices & Printers>Mouse in case there's anything untoward.

Don't know whether this is relevant, but I recently tried to use a Logitech wireless keyboard with a Microsoft wired USB mouse and discovered the two wouldn't work together.

I had to choose between a Logitech keyboard/mouse combo and a Microsoft one. Microsoft won that little battle.

Wait a minute... I have a wired Logitech Media Keyboard 600 somewhere around, maybe I'll try that and see if the problem still occurs.
