You can then use that code on the site mentioned in the post to get your KEY i guess... or to have a DVD sent to you.

I think the whole upgrade over vista option is a flawed thing! Never would I do this. I have tried in the past on numerous occasions only to be sorely disappointed in the end results.

I think the whole upgrade over vista option is a flawed thing! Never would I do this. I have tried in the past on numerous occasions only to be sorely disappointed in the end results.

Are you talking about upgrade option as in 'upgrade pricing' or the actual upgrade installation process?

In the past I would have agreed with you on poor upgrade installations of previous versions of Windows. Not so with later Windows 7 builds.

I have tried the clean install a few times with a couple of early Win7 builds on my home machine. On my work laptop, I run many software suites that require lengthy installation and reactivation processes (I am a web designer/developer). So I really can't afford to do a clean install as it would just take too much time to get everything back up and running properly for work purposes. The laptop also came preinstalled with Vista and I am not a fan of this o/s, especially running on laptop computers.

For this reason, I took an image backup of my entire disk partition with Vista. I then have upgrade installed 2 Win 7 builds (7227, 7260) successively as they became available. I have never seen such a smooth and efficient upgrade process on a Windows o/s. Sure, the process is very long. Especially if you have allot of big software suites installed as my machine does (upgrade install took about 2 hours). Though this upgrade went perfectly smooth and everything worked the way it should once it was finished. The only software incompatibility issue I faced was that my company licensed version of Eset Smart Security would not run in Windows 7. This is not all that surprising as the compatibility of these types of programs are most sensitive to changes in the operating system architecture...

Forgive the long winded response :p
