Greetings everyone!

I installed "Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit" a while ago and at first everything seemed to run smoothly. But at the moment I have issues with opening "open" programs on my taskbar. Pidgin, Skype but also several games have issues every now and then with opening the window.

When I click on a certain program in my taskbar that is open I just see the color change when I mouse over and then it just doesn't open. With Alt Tab I'm also unable to open those programs. So to give an example when I start up Pidgin everything works fine. I see my contact list and everything and when I double click on a person, I see that it creates a new window in my taskbar but it doesn't open the window and if I click on or alt tab it doesn't open either.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this issue because it's pretty frustrating.

Much love,

I couldn't find anything on google. If you need more details please ask so I can provide them. I can even upload a video on YouTube to show the bug if you'd like that.

Greetings!

Hello Dwarf,

Thanks a lot for your welcome!

I just made a small video to show the problem that I have. It occurs randomly quite often with different programs, I just noticed the problem with Microsoft Word as well.

As you can see when I'm trying to open Microsoft Word which I have running but the screen/window doesn't show up if I click on it. Alt tab doesn't work either.

Greetings,

Hello there ;)

Yes I can basicly do everything with my taskbar. I can right click on it and go to properties or any other options. It's just that programs randomly don't want to open up if I click on them on my taskbar. I've been looking on google for hours but couldn't find it yet sadly enough :(

What's going on with FF? The text in the taskbar button is constantly changing.

E messenger displays when you have new messages. Nothing related to the problem though :)

Hmm, I considering switching back to Windows XP Pro 64 bit. I've wasted a lot of money on Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit though :(

You'd have been better learning to walk before you can run.
Average user doesn't need Ultimate
Home or Pro would have been ample.

Running back to a decade's old OS that was never meant for consumer use is certainly not the solution. Something is likely corrupted in the OS, most likely from another app, or you have something running in the background that's causing app freezes or causes them to not respond.

I don't see it listed, but have you tried running the system file checker, running a repair install, or even considered a clean install? A clean install would be the final step, but in two hours time or so, you'd have your system back up and running clean.
