Locked myself out with Administrator Accn't

Hi all,

I joined for this thread, but it looks like a pretty cool place to me.

Here's my story, and I'm willing to bet it's a pretty unique situation:

In an effort to password protect some folders of mine, I enabled the Administrator account using lusrmgr.msc.

After doing that, I made a password for the Admin account and set my own account to a Normal User account as opposed to an Admin account, as it used to be.

Went back to my own personal account, did lusrmgr.msc again, entered the Admin accn't password, and then proceeded to disable the Admin account, thinking I would be able to set passwords on folders using the admin account password by controlling permissions, while also being able to have only my personal account on the login screen.

Go to try some stuff, and it turns out I need to enter an administrator password and then press "Yes" to continue.

I guess that because I disabled the admin account, I can no longer enter an admin password, and therefore cannot do anything that requires Admin permissions.

I tried doing lusrmgr.msc in my own personal account, and enabling the Admin account, but I receive the message that "Access is Denied."

I'm going to try the steps in This post and report back.

What could I try in the event that those steps don't work?

Have you tried to do a system restore using one of your restore points?

After I was logged in, I was unable to do it as I lacked admin privileges.

I attempted safe mode with command prompt, and for some reason my computer would restart as soon as I entered my password on either account.

Luckily I did that enough for windows to think that there was an issue with startup and begin the startup repair utility. From there, I did a system restore. Luckily it fixed the issue!

Slightly off topic.....

You should have 2 admin accounts enabled. One is for emergency in case of issue like yours.
Logging on to the emergency admin will help correct any problems.
