Hey there,

I have a HP Pavillion Entertainment Pc HP9700 that was previously running on xp....

i upgraded to seven and the mic hasn't worked ever since....

common sense would tell me it's a driver i need to install but i'm not savy in the field and i can't find such thing. any ideas? thanks in advance.

microphones don't generally need drivers.

maybe you just need to turn it on and give it a boost.

control panel >> hardware and sound >> manage audio devices >> recording tab >> click on microphone >> properties >> levels >> crank it up >> maybe there's a custom tab too with a boost box to tick.

also make sure the mic is set to be the default device if you want to record from it.

Hello!

It sounds as though you need a driver for your motherboard or chipset (two names for the same thing). I have had an updated chipset driver fix a broken front microphone port before now.

What make and model of computer are you using, and I shall help you to find a suitable driver :)

Thanks a lot!

Richard

The headset worked fine before at the rear, but yesterday when I tried to fix the sound problem with front pane jacks, the mic at the back got messed up somehow. At the front I got the headphones working by installing the latest driver, but the mic's not working still.
