Solved Context Menu Create Shortcut

I have ran out of places to look. I have revamped my right click context menu to the way I need it but have one issue I cannot find registry solution for. I need "create shortcut" removed from the context menu. Cannot find anything in the registry for this. Any ideas?

Already checked #9. It removes the create shortcut from the right click "new" context menu but not from the primary right click context menu you get when you right click on a desktop icon or on a folder.

Start > in the search bxo, type shell:sendto > Enter > right column, select Desktop (create shortcut), then right click at it > click Delete.

Refer back to my #3 reply. Does not remove "Create Shortcut" from main context menu. Only removes it from send to menu.

Not that knowledgeable on regedit but Resource hacker can do it .

Arc, followed the directions on using Resource Hacker and Se7en file replacer which did alter the shell32.dll.mui but did not resolve the problem.

I restored then took ownership and permissions of the pertaining folders and files. Using Resource Hacker, I removed "MENUITEM "Create &shortcut", 28688, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED", backspaced once to eliminate the blank line then complied script. Xd out of everything and rebooted. Using Resource Hacker, I verified that the above line was gone and it is.

However, the "create shortcut" is still present in the context menu so this did not resolve my issue.

Maybe I am taking you literally , but as you said, after compiling script, you are to save it on your desktop as shell32.dll.mui . Now you are to replace it in the en-US folder in SysWOW64 folder , and then reboot .

Is it what you have done ?

That is what I done when I used the Resource Hacker and Se7en file replacer, saved it to desktop then use Se7en File replacer to replace it. Did not solve the problem. So I then went the direct route, made the changes to the file, compiled it and saved it the en-US folder. Did not save it to desktop as changes can be done and saved without ever leaving Resource Hacker but only if you have taken ownership and set permissions on the folder/file. However, this did not resolve the issue either.

Yes, same has happened here as well. Neutron16 says if not a fresh install there may be 2 more copies of the .dll in the c:\windows\winsx subfolder. I have 10,298 subfolders there.

A Guy, I woke up about an hour ago thinking they ought to be a search program for this. It does work. Found 5 entries on my c drive.

Correct that to 6 entries. Had to download the beta version of ResHacker as the first version would not open two of the mui's. Deleted the create shortcut from all of them but still did not solve the problem so something else is locking it in.

Problem solved from info Arc referred me to http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/170036-remove-create-shortcut-file-folder-context-menu.html. Will post the process which worked over there since their info solved the issue.
