Is it possible to set up a workgroup between two computers without connecting them with a crossover cable or setting it up over a wireless network?

Thank you for your time.

You turn one machine into a file server or a NAS
That's about the only way I know of though, and then the other computer would basically just be a file server.

You can just use any old Ethernet cable these days. Most NICs have an "auto-crossover" so if you're connecting to something that you would need a crossover cable for, the NIC does the crossover for you. So if the computers you are connecting were made within the last 5 years or so just use a good ol' straight-through patch cable.

Notta problem! :D From there just make sure the IP addresses of the two machines are in the same class and range and you have yourself a two-machine-workgroup.
