I wasn't expecting my newish rig to garner so much attention. Although after the headaches I've gotten trying to figure this thing out I can't say I hate it. :p

As for display; yes, just temperature (which require probes I'm not fond of using) and RPMs, and the wire management could be better...and will be once I've outlined everything. I'm OCD about that stuff. Hah.

Mid tower = Corsair 600T, Full tower = Corsair 800D except no substitutes....lol. I did and I've regretted it ever since.

The only plus I give the 800D over the HAF X is looks. Functionally they're both similar in performance as both provide outstanding wire management, cooling, accessories, and plenty of room for hardware.

However one could argue that for water cooling the 800D is the better choice as it is the larger of the two cases, but if you’re into air cooling the HAF X is the better choice due to its design; not that it isn’t suited to water cooling as well.

And if we look at price by newegg's standard…..

Cooler Master HAF X - $189
Corsair Obsidian 800D - $279

I'm not knocking the 800D, I nearly got one while it was on sale for $225, but in the end the HAF X won out in size (smaller) and price (cheaper), plus the looks weren't such that it was a putoff for me.

However if I were to go mid tower that 600T looks pretty good.

I reviewed the CM HAF-X and have and currently use the 800D and in my opinion they are both fine cases, however, the 800D is of better build quality and excellent for liquid cooling adaptations. The only area that the HAF-X had an edge is in cooling with air.

I also reviewed the 600T for Corsair and it is one of the sweetest mid-towers I have worked with.

Great looking case, but not nearly a 100 dollars better. I think Corsair is doing themselves a disservice with their pricing as reflected by the small sales sampling (reviews) at newegg.

As for water cooling, yeah, it's been said that the 800D is the better choice; however you did note in your review of the HAF X......

Liquid cooling capabilities are found also with the ability to conceal a triple radiator up to 60mm thick. Both 240 and 360mm radiators are supported for diehard water cooling enthusiasts.

Point being that the HAF X isn't a slouch in this area either. So again, is the 800D nearly 100 dollars better? Depends....

Honestly though, If I were building a custom water cooled system, the 800D would be the better looking choice.

BTW I did/do like your review on the HAF X and would urge anyone looking into the case to read it - the CM HAF-X

My thoughts as well - http://www.sevenforums.com/overclocking-case-mods/96257-cooler-master-s-haf-x.html

Peace

I also reviewed the 600T for Corsair and it is one of the sweetest mid-towers I have worked with.

It's almost not fair to list the 600t as a midtower, as it's one of the biggest midtowers in existence. The 600T measures 23.3L x 10.4W x 20.00H, while the HAF-X is 21.70 (L) x 9.1 (W) x 23.2 (H)
The 600T is currently my favorite case, as I don't like case window and it's currently $124 at NewEgg.

edit: I updated this post to properly reflect the dimensions of the HAF-X and clarify which were length, width and height.

It's almost not fair to list the 600t as a midtower, as it's one of the biggest midtowers in existence. The 600T measures 23.3 x 10.4 x 20.00, while the HAF-X is 23.2 x 9.1 x 21.70.

Wowser

If those dimensions are true than yeah, the 600T should be listed as a full tower case, which is obviously what the HAF X lists, and reviews as.

BTW those dimension newegg list are wrong, I guess they got them off the carton. Anyway I actually measured the case when I got it because it wouldn't fit an area I had for it, even though the specs said it would. Turns out the hight and width on the box are backwards - http://www.sevenforums.com/overclocking-case-mods/96257-cooler-master-s-haf-x.html

Please note the dimensions on the box are backwards. They state that the (H) height is 21.7 inches, and the (D) depth is 23.2. It’s actually the other way around, the height is 23.2 inches and the depth is 21.7

Anyway their product page actaully lists the correct dimensions here - HAF X - Cooler Master - (W) 9.1 x (H) 23.7 x (D) 21.7, so the box is wrong.

For those that care :)

Wowser

If those dimensions are true than yeah, the 600T should be listed as a full tower case, which is obviously what the HAF X lists, and reviews as.
Thanks for the clarification on the size, the site I was using had them listed in a wacky order and I typed them up wrong.

The HAF-X is 23 inches tall and the Corsair 600T is 20 inches tall. The Corsair is actually wider and deeper than the HAF-X.

A coworker of mine picked one up and we were amazed at how utterly large the case was. My current case is an Antec P182 21.3''(H) x 8.1” (W) x 19.9”(D)..and this was the case case he was using previously. Personally, I feel that my P182 is simply too big. And my coworker felt the same way, hoping to reduce the size of the footprint of his new rig when he bought it, but when it arrived he was shocked at just how big of a "mid-tower" the 600T was. In the end, he put in dual video cards, a Hyper 212+ cooler, a full ATX Sandy Bridge board....and it swallowed this stuff up and looks empty inside.

So, when it comes time to build a new machine for myself, I'll have to do some serious case research. I want the ability to do great wire management, and want room to work...but I'm simply over the need to have a "full tower" or anything close to it. They just take up so much space, and I never even come close to enough hardware in a box to fill them up.
