Solved Upgraded from Radeon 4890 to GTX 560Ti and..

I did a clean install(Nvidia drivers that is, not Windows, and no I didn't use DriverSweeper, did it all manually, plus the new Nv driver install has a 'clean install' option, but I think it's only with regard to old 'Nvidia' stuff, not ATI/AMD etc etc), and as far as I know, removed 'all' ATI software, including OpenAL. I removed the ATI Stream folder, but the driver exists still somewhere, this is the message I get when I open GPUZ to look at my new Nvidia card.

Once I click okay, it opens just fine, but look>

It won't list as computing OpenCL, because of a conflict with the ATI Stream driver, ie, the AMD OpenCL.

Where might I find this? I feel certain I removed virtually anything AMD, all that's left is the AMD RAID Xpert, but I need that, I love it, and doubt it has anything to do with this.

Any tips at all are greatly appreciated.

Specs are a Phenom II 965, 8GB, Win7 64bit, and this new Nv card, thanks

(btw, this might be the best bang for the buck card I've ever come across, the performance is mind boggling, and it runs like 60*c, amazing. Scores 7.8's in WEI !!)

Did you uninstall the ATI drivers before installing the Nvidia card?

There should have been a listing in the Add/Remove programs for "ATI CCC Manager" or something along that line.
If you choose "Remove ALL ATI/AMD applications" it should have un-installed everything.

I didn't make notes at the time, but I have the impression that Driver Sweeper removes some files that it shouldn't when set to clean AMD/ATI drivers.

Has anyone else had that experience?

Since you were changing GFX brands, Driver Sweeper would have been a better idea. Download and run it to see if it will pick up the old AMD/ATI bits.
The nVIDIA clean install option is only for NV and doesn't really clean all of the old driver. That's why most of us will suggest DS.

Ah, yes.
I can see where that may cause some confusion.

The "Clean Install" for Nvidia drivers just means it resets all Nvidia settings to default values when upgrading.

I have yet to experience any problem CAUSED by driversweeper.
I have had it solve quite a few though.

Also you may want to keep that link for driver sweeper as it's not being supported by the original guru3d people anymore.
The version you got from that link is the actual up to date one.

There must have been 50-75 ATI files left behind! It removed them, restarted and everything is perfect now.

I did the uninstall process exactly the way I've always done, but I wasn't thinking that this time I was changing brands. I should have ran DriverSweeper right after the uninstall.

Anyway it's perfect, OpenCL is available and everything is working perfect, rep all around

Yeah, that's the true problem, and both nvidia and ati suffer from it.
Their uninstalls don't actually remove the package completely.

Another quick question, which is why I didn't edit it to solved yet.

Now when I try to launch certain games, it says it cannot locate OpenAL drivers. I guess driver sweeper removed OpenAL.

Now, do AMD and Nvidia have their own proprietary OpenAL drivers, or is it entirely seperate? If so where do I get the driver, if not, is there some place that provides this driver? I know what it is, but it's open source right? Who would host such a thing I guess.

OpenAL is actually a audio thing.

and then go here
Downloads
and download and run the windows installer for it.
should fix the problem.

That's good news, glad you're up and running.
In my sig is a link for Revo Uninstaller, it's a good choice for removing programs, more complete than Windows.
