Need a bit of help here.

right the BSOD was ironically being caused by a Belkin driver that was out of date. Which i now can't remove at all... for some reason :/ any suggestions?

Have you tried both Uninstall Driver on the Update Driver tab in Device Manager, and Uninstall in Control Panel>Programs and Features.

Do you have a restore point before the Belkin was installed?

What happens when you try to update the wireless driver by either installing a newer or correct driver, or reinstalling the one you have if it is correct?

I used safe mode to remove it. And updating it doesn't work since the latest drivers were for XP.

You may try Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper to see if it will do the job for you. Then go to device manager from Control Panel and click on the Scan for new Hardware icon.

If you had it installed correctly before it would be worth reinstalling it one more time to try it just like you did before, or in XP Compat Mode.

I will give it a go. and if it causes a BSOD ill uninstall it again. Ive tried using my N adapter and its came up with some Realtek drivers for it (which is wrong but oh well) though they are installed properly it gives a Error Code 10 cannot start message.

Try it in another machine to see if it works.

What do you mean by "matches?"

What is the exact make/model?

The Hardware Identifier you said to use came back with no matches. the Model is: F5D8035, Belkin N wireless Adapter.

May be worth trying my tutorial anyway... apparently your chipset is a Ralink rt2500 if you need to grab those.

Edit: Try gregs suggestion first though.

Go to Device Manager, click on Belkin Network Adapter Driver Update tab, browse to folder where download unzipped, try to find driver folder to pick up driver manually.

Edit: Just saw Martin's post. Work with him as he knows this model.

Ok, right Im just saying this, My adapter IS Belkin but it doesn't recognise itself as such, when i plug it into my computer it's just an 802.11N wireless adapter, the belkin software doesn't recognise it either. Im not sure why.

Ok.... I have two suggestions for you.

First create a system restore point, as you will need to roll back if this goes wrong and you have to go to option 2.

Option 1: Follow steps 6-10 of the tutorial I posted above, but rather than clicking "Ralink, Technology Corp" when it asks you for the brand, instead click "Belkin" and then go from there.

If that doesn't work, fall back to your restore point, and then go for Option 2: follow the tutorial in it's entirety

I'm thinking you'll have to go for Option 2, as manually finding drivers from a Belkin installer is like getting blood from a stone.... that's what I tried before I discovered the Ralink method.

Do you have an FCC ID for the adapter? It should be somewhere on the back.
