Solved hOW TO RECOGNISE WHICH IS THE DEFAULT BROWSER?

I have IE 9 and Firefox 5 in WIN 7.

How do I discover which one is the default browser ?

I use one very simple method. Close all open browsers. Then write some url address like that and hit enter


Whatever browser open it - thats the default one. If its not the one that you want to be default then fix the settings in the desired one

That, or you can go into each browsers option, and find out there also.

For Firefox, just go to Options/Advanced-General tab.



For IE, just go to Internet Options/Programs tab.



You can also find out in your Start menu under Default Programs.

I use the 'Default Programs' in control pannel as Airbot suggested. "Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs"

Bear in mind this :
one of the 2 is not a default. As such, the one that is NOT a default will ask if you want to set it as default whenever you open it.

So, open your browsers one at a time. Find out which one asks you to set it as default.
