It is pretty brutal, I feel so bad about it, wish I could save them.

I doubt you can skip it, have you tried click Mouse 1 or 2? The Witcher 2 allows skipping scenes like that, not for all I believe.

... Yes, but there's a reason for the content rating... I wouldn't really want to have a child play a game where there is nudity and/or a person having his/her/its spinal column torn out.
