RoG's are great but very expensive. The RoG 580 is over a thousand bucks.

Yeah,but i never minded about the brand of graphics cards, i started with a xfx...then got a gigabyte(loved it) then asus a few times and now inno3d,and it performs the same as the rest of the gfx's,its just the sticker that changes(i am refering to the stock cards,not overclocked ones and so on) But when it comes to motherboards i have to have rog,the features are amazing and the boards are good quality.

Takes a little bit to get used to, but if you have used a touch screen smart phone already, it's pretty much the same, just bigger.

ya, you are right. I just added another 2TB to it the other day.
I think I am up to 17.5TB of storage, be awhile before tablets have that much space.

No, but I have a Dell Mini Mac 9 for sale and it runs cool so no water cooling required.

Yeah,i know what you mean,but you can get the asus rog maximus gene for R2000,so only 300 more than you want to spend...and why do you want amd? Don't like the power of intell...?:roflmao: Oh and have a look at prophecyshop,free delivery and very good prices.

I've got no problem with Intel, most of my friends have them.. Honestly, I'm just an AMD fan boy. I know Intel chips perform better than AMD these days, and that AMD have been playing the catch-up game for quite a few years, but if you look at price vs performance, AMD are still cheaper.

I did do quite a lot of searching; Matrix Warehouses, PC Zone, Prophecy Shop, RebelTech, Zaps, Takealot (used to be Take2), even looked at our suppliers through work (where I can get anything at cost less VAT), RebelTech were the cheapest for the CPU and Motherboard I want, and Takealot were cheapest for the RAM I want.

Unless you are me and you hate side windows on cases and case lighting. I love a clean wiring job, but you won't see mine until you take off the side.

As for new technology, I haven't even moved out of the dual-core or DDR2 era yet..

While I am on a quad core, my rig runs DDR2. I don't yet have a single box running DDR3 either.

I don't like tablets at all. They are just a bigger version of my phone, which is a pain to use with regards to efficiency. I'll set down the tablet and use my laptop/desktop...95% of the time.

If you are building a flat out cheapest possible budget rig, the AMD is cheaper. However, a Core i5-2500k (~$210) will run circles around an AMD1100T (~$195) and it's only around 8% more expensive. For me, I'd rather spend $15 more and get way more performance.

It's no secret that Intel are way ahead in the tech game, so to be fair, that comparison is a tad unfair... The Phenom II range was out along side Intel's previous generation chips. All they've really done since the second generation i3, i5 and i7 chips is up the speeds of their existing chips, they haven't changed architecture in a long time.

On the price side of things, the best price I can find locally for the i5 2500k is R2153.67 (Google currency conversion: $269), while the x6 1100T is R1982.92 ($248).. It's pretty much pointless buying overseas because of customs and shipping costs, so getting a Phenom II x4 970 locally for R1447.35 ($181) is actually a nice deal...

Edit: Oh, and please don't get me started on our local postal service's track record for damaging contents on international parcels.... I just recently ended up spending nearly R700 in postage and customs fees for a set of Magic the Gathering cards that only cost R400 to start with. I've had the same experience with 6 items bought online for my PC in the last year, that being out of a total of 10 items...

I don't usually like to compare the chips either because Intel performs better, but I do like to make comparisons when people proclaim that performance for dollar is always better with AMD...and that I don't universally agree with. If it's "acceptable performance for bottom dollar" then AMD will likely win. If it's "high performance per dollar", usually Intel is the winner.

Ha! Well yeah.. it did. But this rig cost only one arm. I would have had to give up both arms, a leg and my first born child to Dell for a system that barely came close and still would have been shipped an onboard GPU!



Thanks to all! I got seriously lucky with the LED colors of everything. I really did not even plan or think of that. The component gods smiled and gave me all the same color and hue!
