Solved BSOD while playing games and viewing videos, stop 0xD1

Hi, I have this problem:

I've experienced BSOD crashes for about 3 months in my 2 year old built computer related to my GPU, more specifically while playing games, and ocasionally while playing videos in Windows Media Player. Sometimes the image freezes and it keeps playing sound, other times it goes to black and the system reboots automatically.

I initially run WhoCrashed to analyze the mini dump files, and it keep saying that is an nvidia driver problem (error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I've reinstalled Windows with SP1 one month ago, cleaned all my pc parts, changed the memory sticks from position, stopped the OC of the cpu, tried different Nvidia drivers but the problem is still there.

Anyway, I've followed the BSOD post instructions and attached the analysis files.

My system:

MB: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
GPU: Zotac NVIDIA GTX 260 core216
CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 720 2.8 GHz @3.0 GHz
Kingston 2x2 GB DDR3 RAM Memory

Download and install [/FONT][FONT=&quot]Driver Sweeper[/FONT][FONT=&quot]

Download the most recent software\driver for your [/FONT][FONT=&quot]NVIDIA [/FONT][FONT=&quot]

Uninstall nvidia software\driver,restart in safe mode,run driver sweeper,choose only NVIDIA-Display and clean,restart in normal mode.

Install the new ati software\driver,restart.

Update [/FONT][FONT=&quot]DirectX [/FONT][FONT=&quot]


Run the [/FONT][FONT=&quot]nvidia-video-card-test[/FONT][FONT=&quot]


Finish with these steps and post back here the results.[/FONT]

Install Driver Sweeper

Uninstall the Nvidia Driver restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper and remove leftover Nvidia driver files

Reiinstall the latest Nvidia Driver

Update DirectX

Run a GPU Stress Test: Nvidia Video Card - Test with OCCT

Ok, thank you all for the quick reply.

I've done the process of uninstall/install drivers with driver sweeper a lot of times already, anyway, I did it again accordly to your instructions.

I tried to update DirectX, but the program said that DX was already updated.

I executed the OCCT program and ran both OCCT GPU test and Memtest. The first after an hour of stressing said it was completed without error:

However I ran the Memtest with a loop value of 10. It said it was completed with 48112 errors. Does this mean that my GPU is dead?

No its not your GPU, but its rather the Memory Modules on your Graphics card.
Sadly these cannot be replaced so you'll have to get a new Graphics card

Ok thanks for your help, but I still don't get it, there are days where i can play or use my computer without any problem, and I don't get any artifacts on my screen. Is it because the memory has some kind of inestability that under stress will cause random bsod's?
