I have done some extensive web searches and research through several sources specifically trying to find some concrete answers pertaining to features new SPECIFICALLY to Windows 7 that have not been present >XP.
Not really looking for a reference novel, just potentially some ideas on directions to focus on.
Maybe some of your favorite features that are Windows 7 born?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

If you've done extensive research, you'd easily have them in front of you. If you had to give someone a good reason(s) to use Windows 7, I'd tell them it is newer technology that is faster and more secure, that makes better use of your available hardware. It's more stable and reliable, and all current hardware and software, including drivers, is designed to work with it, as opposed to a decade plus old operating system.

Agreed 100%. I don't use XP for personal use anymore. It's worth the price of the upgrade.

Agreed, and I have indeed found many sources that boast all of seven's features and capabilities and the pros to making the switch.
The question however was a little more specific, and before I continue, thank you to all who responded I very much appreciate it, but back to the desired point: features NOT present prior to Vista/7. Not just what have they made better and improved, but all together new, never have existed before seven was released.
I apologize if I seem lazy or ignorant for this curiosity but sifting through each and every one of the THOUSANDS of pages I came across is getting to be a little tiring.

I actually just came across something that I found useful tucked nicely in the Microsoft website:

Compare Windows - Microsoft Windows

Saddens me to say though that it's still not perfectly the direction I'm searching, just because arguably almost all of those are just improvements or "next-gen" products as opposed to completely new material

I would still be curious if anyone has any thoughts though.

Nice. Love those, I never even thought about the imaging!
Ha, superfetch, I actually ran across that earlier and wildly browsed right over it. Thanks for the ideas!

Anybody argue that the XPS Document Writer is a new feature or was it in some fashion used prior to?
(Not including Vista)

It isn't tiring if you just stick to trusted, well-known sites. The benefits of Windows 7 are considered old news by now. If someone needs to be convinced by now, it's too late for them, as they haven't been paying attention over the last 2 and a half years.

Superfetch. WinSxS. DISM and ImageX. The BCD store. Better firewall. Better task scheduler. PowerShell. Backup and Restore. Previous versions. The sidebar. Hotstart/Mobility Center. Action Center. Just about every OS component improved and updated.

And that's just what I can come up with off the top of my head right now...

I think Britton30's suggestion of this Wikipedia article is the closest to what you were looking for: Features new to Windows 7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. But the other members are right, in that it will unfortunately take some legwork to find the consummate article that lists all the features new to Win 7 that were not present (in some form) in prior versions.

Pedantically, XP had an extremely rudimentary form of Side by Side Versioning (WinSxS) in some of the later editions (I forget exactly which Service Pack level - possibly SP2??). But anyway, technically not new, but used properly for the first time in Vista, so I think that still counts. Nice post :)
