Linux Kubuntu OS user for over 20 years. I purchased components for a new build. The Motherboard is an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and requires a Windows environment for setup. I purchased Windows 7 service pack 2 and attempted install of Windows 7. I was stopped during the installation, because the Internet did not automatically connect.

[Device driver] suggested the need for LAN drivers. The drivers are Realteck. I downloaded and attempted to install the Realteck drivers from the ASUS Sabwertooth download site. There are 3 available drivers. I attempted install one at a time and each were rejected. They were the only Realteck drivers available for Windows 7 64bit recommended by the Motherboards driver download site.

Windows 7 is a very different system from Kubuntu. All drivers are installed automatically when you install a Kubuntu Operating System. The drivers that were rejected were offered by the ASUS Sabertooth motherboard driver support site, so I do not know what to do now. Apparently they are Windows 7 drivers, because the Operating System had to be selected to locate them. I must have Internet connection before I can complete my Windows 7 installation.

The ASUS and Realteck source did not work leaving Windows 7 which requires compatible drivers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
Sorry just shows what a rookie I am. I have a laptop with Vista and Service Pack 2. By the way, I have solved this problem. Thanks for the input.
There is no Windows 7 Service pack 2. It is currently at Service Pack 1.
Where did you get the DVD?

You should not need an internet connection to install Windows 7.

I am surprised that the drivers that are part of Windows 7 do not work, though.
