Random Freezing for Notebook ASUS F6VE Windows 7 Professional 32bit

Ahh, 1 thing I realised, the moment the first freezing occurs, the next freeze will be quite soon when I start gaming/viewing videos, until when I restart my computer then it will take longer before it starts freezing. Meaning after using about 2 hours then when it first freeze, the next freeze takes around 1 hour or less until I restart my computer and it takes awhile before freezing occurs again.

Freezing occurs more frequently when using skype, without video calls, normal calls can cause freezing too.

And of course you have re-installed skype right? You aren't overclocking?

Freezing still occuring even after I formatted my computer, updated to SP1, then installation of my Programs and Drivers. Leaving it alone with no moving graphics will not cause any freeze, however just by watching videos/skype/gaming will cause it to freeze, I had the latest video driver already.

But the freezing only occurs after SP1 update, before SP1 everything seems ok.

Might be something in SP-1. Before you update to SP-1 have you run the update readiness tool?

Ensure you install the correct 64 or 32bit option for your system)

Hi Zigzag,

I had ran this Download the System Update Readiness Tool (32bit) and updated all the windows file.

Could I check with you is this the update that patch windows 7 to Windows 7 SP1?

View attachment 181489

At the same time I will be running my system (Without SP1) for 2 days to make sure that the hang is not present for those updates that were installed

Hi Zigzag,

After using my computer for about a week. no problems had been observed, so I tried SP1 today, and immediately after installation of SP1, by using skype about 10mins my computer Freeze.

No doubt that SP1 is the cause of the problem.

Please advice what I could do next.

I'm using the latest skype version no idea where I could check it,

Skype is not the only 1 that is giving problems.

- Viewing Videos causes freeze
- Warcraft 3 causes freeze
- Playing Zuba Blitz on facebook causes freeze

Using these programs alone can cause freeze

The freeze are intermittent and does not gives any signs before it freeze.

These problems does not occur without SP1, all these programs I had used before SP1, and was perfectly fine for at least a week, until today when I updated SP1 and the freezing problems occurs no doubt it's SP1 (KB97632) or KB97602 that is the cause of the problem that causes incompatability to my system at least.

Hi Zigzag,

I'd done most of the troubleshooting on my part and found that SP1 is the most likehood or at least 100% is something in SP1 that had been causing my computer to freeze randomly/intermittently for the past 4 months.

It had been more than a day since I uninstalled SP1 and everything was alright.

Now I am unable to get any updates pass SP1 cause once SP1 is installed freezing will occur.

Should I stay on windows 7 (Without SP1) or any other advice could be given, or any alternatives to windows update, since it's not recommended for me not to update Windows 7.

I saw this http://social.technet.microsoft.com...l/thread/91f94991-de03-45f9-b560-25e28ce9e786
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit freezes randomly

And the hotfix had been released

On the previous try dated 3 weeks ago, when I first posted here, I had installed the hotfix that was released however freezing still occurs after installation of that hotfix.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2575077

Here's my computer Specs

Model: Asus F6VE

Processor : P8800 @2.66GHz
Installed Ram: 4 GB (3GB Usable)
Graphics: ATI HD4570

System Type: Windows 7 Professional 32bit

The Random Freezing occurs since July/August 2011, it occurs when I used Skype/Gaming/Browing videos streaming, since thats the major things I do.

I had formatted my laptop and installed a new copy but Doesnt help. The probelm had already occurred 2 months.

So I bought down to ASUS since it was under warranty.

Ram: Tested ok
HDD : Tested ok

Firstly, the system was running fine, so they did a format but when I bought it home, the freeze occured,

Then they changed the hard disk even though it was tested ok, but the freeze occurred.

Followed by the whole motherboard was changed, and yet the freeze occur

So I was told not to install and drivers, using the generic drivers that were already installed in my system + the latest ATI driver, it was working fine, for 2 days,

However I noticed after the windows update where SP1 was installed, my system starts to freeze again. I downloaded the hotfix but doesnt help, anyone have any idea what to do next or could it be other hardware failure?

Hello devower. Please accept my apology for jumping in. I'm not trying to replace zigzag.

In going through your posts I didn't see any mention of whether or not you installed the SP1 Update Package (Resolution section of this Microsoft KB article):

An update that prevents a "0xC0000034" error message when you try to install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is available

If you already tried this I extend a second apology and I'll make an appointment to get my glasses checked. :)

Ahh no worries :D I didnt specifically mentioned it, but I manually installed it the first time before I posted on this thread, didnt took screenshots of it.

Anyways, I could install SP1 back and install An update that prevents a "0xC0000034" error message when you try to install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is available but I believe that there would still be this freezing problem, to make sure I didnt missed this.

Drivers wouldn't really cause any problems unless there're drivers that are compatiable with Win 7 but not SP1

You dont have to make an appointment for your glasses :geek: as I didnt screenshots or mentioned specifically about it, but just generally mentioned about the hotfix that refers to this update. ;)

Anyways I was browsing through the forums and there're some threads that had some similarities with my problem like

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/195386-freezes-ntoskrnl-exe-bsod.html
-> making loud buzzing noises during freeze while gaming

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-...em-freeze-while-playing-bf-3-multiplayer.html

-> Freezes with no BSOD

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-...s-7-x64-freeze-problem-acer-aspire-5738g.html

-> It freezes randomly so if your doing something like chatting, if it freezes the screen it just hangs I can't move my mouse pointer

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/195771-windows-7-x64-freezes-time-time.html

-> When I run some programs like viewing video on Media Player

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-...om-computer-freezes-no-event-log-entries.html

-> Freezes with no event log while using programs like skype (Maybe this guy could try and wait for 3s - 7 mins before holding down the power button, to see if the windows could resume as if nothing had happened)

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-...n7-professional-64-freezing-random-times.html

-> Freezing with no BSOD

This are some of the threads that had similar symtomps as mine, but I dont expect them to have the same problem as me.

So what you could do is uninstall SP1: Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates > Search for SP1 > Right mouse click uninstall:

r1wq4n.png

After the uninstallation of SP1 search for updates again and if you see SP1 appearing again right mouse click 'Hide update' and than try to install all new updates (with sp1 hided)

PS: sorry I selected the wrong update file it's the one down (KB976933)
