Hello,

I've been having a hard time with BSOD. I use to have Windows Vista 64, and it was crashing occasionally with the Blue Screen. I have since wiped the Hard Drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64, but I'm encountering the same issues.
When I download many things, or have a few torrents running this tends to be when it has problems and BSOD happens.

I'm running Avast for an anti-virus. Ran with Memtest with no errors... I'm comfortable enough to poke around but not knowledgeable enough to figure this stuff out. Please help.

a text file of the BSOD has been included (or attempted) please advise if I can provide anything else.

Thank you for any help with this

Information as you requested

Thanks for the quick reply, I hope I've provided enough information. Let me know if there is something else I can give you.

Windows 7 x64 Full Retail Version
The laptop is approximately 2 years old
Windows 7 was installed October 29-30 2011

I've updated the system info as well. I attached the requested zip but I don't see it with the post. Was it uploaded? I've attempted to attach it a second time.

Side note: I see a service pack update waiting in the tray. I thought everything was updated on the weekend, should I run it and sent you more information afterwards?

Thanks again for all the help.

Removed & installed

I've uninstalled Network Magic since it was an old program that wasn't doing what I needed.

I was certain that I pulled all the newest drivers for my parts, but it looks like the WiFi was a few update behind. I'll hopefully be able to put it through its paces tonight with some downloads and follow up with how it went.

Thanks so far.

Unknown issue

Well I set up the laptop with a bunch of uploads last night (since I couldn't find anything to download), and checking on it just now it had gone back to the login screen.
I checked the BSOD viewer and there isn't a new event, but the laptop had been powered down to the login screen. I checked the power management settings and I couldn't find anything that said it could go to sleep... is it possible that it crashed but didn't generate a BSOD?

What can I do to see if something is still causing a crash? I restarted the uploads, and I'm looking for a bunch of downloads to see if I can cause it to crash while I can watch it.

Thank again for any help or insight you may provide.

Laptops are not the best solutions for hard work in downloading\uploading.

Check temperatures.

Download and install Speccy - Standard

Speccy screen shot

I have a laptop cooler running most of the time, providing a good amount of air flow. I understand that the laptop isn't as good as a workstation and for now it will have to do. But I never considered that it was overheating and shutting down.

I've included the snap shot you requested. Its currently running some torrents in the background and I will be working on some SketchUp shortly. This should push the CPU a little more. That said I've never had it shut down on me while I was using it unless I got a BSOD.

I really appreciate all you help. It will be nice to have all the answers, and at least know what is happening.
Regards,
K

Update: I've started to download some torrents in the background and do some SketchUp work and the motherboard temp has gone up quite a bit in the last hour and a half. That sucks.
Good news BSOD hasn't reared its ugly head in the last 48hours. Guess I need to put some money aside and buy a new workstation Since the old Pentium XP machine in the basement is way too old to do any serious work with.

Any suggestions on controlling the Laptop temperature in the meantime?
I'll close this thread today as solved, since the BSOD issue might be done for now.

Thanks again to everyone
K

You cant do many things with laptop cooling.

Keep the airflow clean.Use air spray and clean the cpu cooler.

Use laptop cooler.

Dont do a multitasking, just use one program at a time.
