Everytime I open IE 8 I get this sound that is so annoying and I have had a hard time explaining the sound so I recorded it.
If anyone can tell me what the heck is causing this sound everytime I open IE 8 I would appreciate it.
I am not sure if it is IE 8 or the sites I go to but I open by default to Google. If I go to Apple's website the sound repeats over and over again but on most it only happens when I open my browser.
It doesn't happen with Firefox. and please don't say"just use Firefox then" I want to figure out the problem with IE 8
That is the default sound based on your sound scheme. On the desktop right click and click Personalization/Sounds and go through the list of sounds there and disable the one for IE.

That is what I have read in this forum for months but in my case it is not the problem. When I go to the sound properties and look at my sound scheme and no sound under my scheme which is the default windows scheme sounds like that sound. in other words if I click on each should that has a speaker next to it I do not get that what I can a "spring" sound.
Hmm, that may not be from the default theme. My 7 machine is down for awhile and I can't check to see if there is a sound option for IE navigation or opening/closing.

In above, you mentioned "browser", but I assume you only mean IE 8. Also, since you checked all the sounds in your sound scheme, it's probably not that but you could try the "No Sounds" sound scheme just to be sure. (Perhaps you have a geeky friend who tries to talk you out of using IE.)
