Here is my laptop after installing 240gig SSD I was hoping for at least a 7. The laptop came with two spinners one a 5200 rpm 750g and a 500g 7200 hybrid drive that held the operating system Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid Hard Drive | Seagate I did not relise it had this drive and i am currently using it as storage with the SSD but after reading about this HHD it seems to be more designed to hold an operating system than be storage. My question is do you think I should use the SSD as storage and the hybrid for Windows?

I would use your new SSD for the OS- 240gig SSD

Reinstall this for storage in place of the hybrid.- 5200 rpm 750g

More room for storage and the speed difference does not matter on a storage HDD.

Stick the hybrid in an external case. eSata or USB 3.0 which ever you have available on the laptop for extra storage.

Are you sure you are in AHCI mode?

I would think it would be over 7.0 on the Hard disk rating.

No the hybrid won't make any difference in the score since the primary disk is used for the rating which is ths SSD.

Yes I am in AHCI however not my ideia of a clean install the operating system was restored using 5 disks created from factory image on origonal HD. I thought about buying another copy of Windows a fresh install without all toshiba's blowtware would be nice.

I agree with Mike. But, I have a laptop with 2 hard drives, If I put a spinner as the data drive the score goes down. At least in my case, I believe the 2 sata ports are shared, thus the lower score. So, I just put 2 SSDs in it. I used a 64GB for OS and a larger one for Data. Now my hard drive score on the laptop is 7.9, even at sata II speeds. Crucial M4's are great. Plus, Windows enables trim. So I would put the OS on the SSD. I am not sure how it handles trim with the SSD as a storage drive. I guess I'll find out. Just my 2 cents.

Could it be he runs defrags and benchmarks all the time? Or just trolling? I can't wait for lower prices on 512GB SSDs or a new 1TB SSD. I'll move all my HDDs to backup duty.

Define 'crap out', it is a very rare occurance for even one to fail for any random person. One person with four failures borders on impossible without the user doing somthing wrong.
