I've been getting multiple BSOD's even as soon as Windows has finished booting. Majority of the BSOD's are caused by tcpip.sys with various different bug check strings and codes.

My system: (only about 3 weeks old)

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel Core i5 2500
ASRock H61M/U3S3
Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB
Corsair HX-650

Tests I have done:

FurMark burn-in test with extreme burn-in settings and noticed no artifacts or overheating.
Driver Verifier for about 12 hours without any problems
Prime95 Torture test for about 12 hours without problems

I would appreciate any help at all because the problem is driving me crazy :( Thanks.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to help solve my problem.

I have removed Avast from my system and installed MSE as you suggested.
I have run the System File Checker twice with no errors.
I have run Memtest for 8+ hours and 7 passes with no errors.

Update software\driver for FNet Turbo HDD USB Driver

Welcome to PQI Website
.

I'm having trouble with this part though. I downloaded the driver on that website but the installation asks for a serial number. I don't have one because I don't even know what product the Turbo HDD USB is! I'm not aware of having such device on my system.

Old driver with no much info.

During searching i found this.

The program was named FNET usb turbo boost. A small program that came with the Lacie drive that supposedly made transfer 2 times faster.

And also this.

FNETURPX.SYS - FNet User Proxy Driver
Company website here: FNet Corporation

Please remove the program associated with this driver. If unable to find out which program it is, rename the FNETURPX.SYS file (it's in C:\Windows\System32\drivers) to FNETURPX.BAK then reboot to ensure that it stays renamed. Then see if that eliminates the BSOD's during large file transfers.

Ok, from your info I just realized what that program is. It is Asrock Xfast USB. I have uninstalled this program.

Haven't had a BSOD for about 24 hours, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. I think it might have been Avast but we'll see how it goes. I'll post back if I do get another one. Thank you for your help.

I had a feeling it wouldn't last :(

Just had another tcpip.sys related BSOD. Was browsing at the time with one youtube video running. This is driving me insane.

Why does every single test I have tried pass with no errors yet windows can't even stay up by itself?

Attached is the latest dump, first BSOD in more than a day.

Edit: Got another BSOD just then, uploaded new dump.

I had another four BSOD's after those but I won't upload the dumps since they all point to tcpip.sys as the culprit. Let me know if you need them and I'll upload in the next post.

I've noticed a few anomalies since the recent batch of BSOD's. I'm not sure if these are relevant at all, but I'll post them anyway:

  • Crashes seem to be more frequent when I load uTorrent. Although it doesn't explain why sometimes crashes occur before Windows has booted up.
  • My Mouse didn't work after one of the crashes; had to plug into another USB port
  • Front panel light (power light) sometimes stays off
What is really driving me crazy about all these BSOD's is, how can I go for more than a day without a single crash (whilst running numerous tests) and then suffer several of them in very short time while doing nothing? It doesn't make sense.

Just wondering if you can make anything of this.

I used SystemLook Usage Guide SystemLook_x64 to locate the tcpip.sys file and this is what it came up with:

Code:
Searching for "tcpip.sys"
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\tcpip.sys --a---- 1923952 bytes [11:04 13/11/2011] [16:29 29/09/2011] FC62769E7BFF2896035AEED399108162

I have six copies of the tcpip.sys file on my system, all of which are different filze sizes. Does this have anything to do with the BSOD's I'm getting?

BSODs was caused by the Atheros NIC driver, update this driver by downloading the latest version from the manufacturer's website

You have an Unknown driver VKbms.sys.

In the list of the above website i notice the http://www.vimicro.com/english/product/PublicDriver/WIN/Uninstall_Tools.zip Download it and run it.

I used that Uninstall Tool but I don't think it did anything, so I looked up the VKbms.sys file on my system and came up with:

Code:

It appears to be a driver for my mouse, the Razer DeathAdder 3500. I did some research on Google and found that the Razer mouse drivers were causing BSOD problems on some Windows 7 x64 systems.

Razer DeathAdder 3500 causing BSOD! - Tech Support Forum

Apparently removing the Razer drivers and using only the default drivers fixes this problem. I will try that now and see how it goes.

I did a full scan and no malicious files were detected on my system.

Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\DeathAdder\vDevice\32\VKbms.sys --a---- 10240 bytes [10:57 13/11/2011] [08:16 01/10/2010] 07C20E596A0838809BC5FF5DE5A65973
C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\DeathAdder\vDevice\64\VKbms.sys --a---- 13312 bytes [10:57 13/11/2011] [08:16 01/10/2010] 3B59BB6D10CF969DBE4DB93D9EAD7FB4

Good idea ;)

Ok,finish testing and post back.

*sigh*

Two more BSOD's.

I can't upload them because I ran CC Cleaner to try and remove all trace of my Razer drivers and it deleted all my dumps.

However I do remember what the BSOD's were because these were new and I never had them before. -- Page Fault in Non Paged Area bugcheck 0x00000050 They also pointed at afd.sys as the cause of the crash, which again, is network related?

What to do now?
