Kingston HyperX DDR3

I am thinking to upgrade my ram from 4GB (4x1024MB Corsair XMS3 DDR3) to Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1333MHz CL9 8GB DIMM.

In near future, I might upgrade to i5/i7 depending on budget along with motherboard. Rest of the hardware will be carried forward to new machine and hoping this RAM will be alright as well (if not, it can be upgraded at later stage).

What do you guys think or recommend I should go for. My system specs are mentioned under menu if that will help in suggestions.

I suggest getting the 1600mhz ram if you want to upgrade to i5/i7 later.

I would actually suggest going even higher if overclocking was a possibility for you, but the ram starts jumping in price when you hit 2000+ mhz.

My current motherboard i.e. Asus P5E3 only supports DDR3 upto 1333MHz so getting 1600 0r 2000Mhz is not the option

It should just downclock the faster memory to the max speed supported.

Stormy is right, faster RAM would run at you boards ability. An i5 or i7 can handle 1866MHz RAM lying down if you can swing it in the meantime. It can be found reasonably priced too.
To answer your question, yes that RAM would work fine.

They are the same except the second has XMP,

That is the X at the end of the second one's model number,

Other than that they are the same.

sorry but I updated previous post with different memory, both part numbers are virtually same so it means both will have same performance level??

Other than the color and a small price difference, I don't think there is a difference between the two (with the updated link),

RAM manufacturers lately have been changing heat spreaders or colors and putting them out as a new product.

Also winsat score didn't improved as much as I was expecting

After installing new ram, i had BSOD once but then system was stable for like half hour then my computer kept on restarting after BSOD randomly, I'm sure my motherboard can handle DDR3 upto 1800* MHz, at the moment new ram is running on 1033 for some reason. It might be the cause of BSOD.

Any suggestions please..

*DDR3 1800 / 1600 are O.C. speeds

I installed new RAM and went into BIOS to make sure my system is reading 8 gigs and thats all. I didn't changed any RAM settings

I've googled if I need to do any settings and best answer I've found is what I've already done, after installing new RAM, going into BIOS to verify new RAM and it will automatically adjust the new settings.

Can it be the cause of BSOD that my motherboard reads 1800/1600 speeds in OC mode and my new RAM is already 1600 MHz. Motherboard has lowered the RAM speed cause I'm not running my CPU in OC mode. I guess to rectify the problem, I need to overclock cpu to make sure RAM is running at 1600 MHz?

I'm not sure on Intel boards, but all AMD boards will default to 1333Mhz or to any slower stock speed. I have to manually set BIOS with my RAM spec to make it run that way. I think Intel boards have a XMP setting which shouls set volts, timing, and freq for you.

with XMP setting, do I have to overclock CPU as well or its just for RAM only??

Not sure, but I think there is "Enable XMP" in your BIOS for RAM only.

I couldn't see your specs on the stickers for the ram, but it should have the voltage and timings for the ram. The new ram appears to be 1600. Make sure the voltage is correct in bios, then enable XMP. It should default to correct timings and the 1600 specs. But, I would check the timings and be sure to set the correct voltage if it is not already set. You are going to have to do a lot of playing with timings and other settings to get 1600 ram to run at 1800. With stock profiles, it should run well. And, it s unlikely that you would notice much of a difference in 1600 and 1800 except in benchmarks.

As I mentioned earlier in this post about getting BSOD after installing my new RAM kit. I'm still getting BSOD randomly, I checked if memory is properly inserted which it is. Also in BIOS everything seems alright but in cpuz screen shot I noticed my ram is running on 800 MHz instead of 1600 MHz :shock:

800 speed shown in CPUZ is normal---it is double data rate RAM, which equates to 1600.

What are detailed specs of that Kingston RAM compared to the detailed specs of Crucial brand RAM for your motherboard using the Crucial.com configurator?
