Solved Buying Help! Kingston HyperX or Corsair Vengeance

Hello all first of all sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section. Now lets jump on to the main question! I will be upgrading my RAM in very few days so here are the 2 Gaming RAMs I'm interested in to choose from.

1. Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1866Mhz (HX318C10F/8)
HyperX FURY Memory
2. Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10)
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Memory Kits ? Vengeance DDR3 Memory Kits and PC memory upgrades are designed using RAM specially selected for their high-performance potential)|

For now I just want to buy 1x 8GB Module as after some months I'm planning to jump on 16GB so I'll just grab another identical module. Now my question is "Which One is Better?" Also note that the Kingston HyperX price is roughly $20 cheaper than Corsair Vengeance and not to mention Vengeance has lower Mhz on label

P.S. Not a Overclocker so I rather tend to run system on stock clocks.

Running stock is just fine.

You do not want to use just 1 stick of ram. You need to use at least 2 stick to use the dual channel capability of your motherboard.

The two brands of ram you mentioned are both of high quality and I have used them both without problems.

If you look in your motherboard manual you will find the proper install location for your ram.

It's alway best to buy ram in matched sets all at once.
If you can't, what I would do if it was my computer is buy a matched set of 2 sticks of 4 gigs each.
The best option to have 16 gigs of ram would be
4 stick of 4 gigs each matched.

Most systems will run quite well and game well with 8 gigs of ram.

Thanks for the detailed answer Layback Bear. I am actually planning of getting just 1 stick of RAM right now as my pockets can't afford 2 RAMs of 8gigs each right now so later after some months I'll have total of 16gb.. anyways I also can't have 4 rams in the slots as my CPU cooler is lying right on the 1st slot so I'm using the Red Slots right now and later will also use same slots for 16gb (dual channel) mode.

Is their a way to turn you cpu cooler to give access to the ram slot?

You can run one ram stick just remember you will be running single channel and not dual channel. Your motherboard needs either 2 or 4 sticks of ram to use the dual channel capabilities of the motherboard. Of course when using 2 ram modules they must be in the slots according to the motherboard manual.

If it was my choice and I wanted to run stock I would choose the 1600 ram. Even when over clocking one sees very little difference between 1600 and 1866 ram. For everyday use you won't see any difference.
Plus the 1600 meets your motherboard specs for speed requirements.

No I have CM Hyper 212 Evo and that has the direction where it throws the air out from the rear of the case.

Yes I know my motherboard is currently running my G.Skill 4GB (2x 2GB) kit on a dual-channel mode but my plan right now is to get 1x 8GB Stick of RAM and when I will have money I will add another identical module to make it run on Dual-Channel mode and it will be 16GB in total then which will be plenty for me.

My main concern is that in gaming does Dual-Channel have any kind of impact on performance (loading etc.) coz if there is no difference during gaming so what's the purpose of getting 2x 4GB RAM's to make it run on Dual-Channel while the single stick of 8gig ram is delivering the same performance. I'm not into any video encoding/decoding or rendering stuff I just use my PC for Gaming Purpose mainly, music and browsing after all I have a plan to make it 16GB so it will be on Dual-Channel eventually.

Both brands are pretty much equally good (although the Corsair as a slight edge). The Corsair RAM has a higher profile heat sink which is much more for appearance than cooling (at stock speeds, cooling is not an issue anyway) and may interfere with CPU coolers. I've been happy with the 32GB Kingston Hyper X low profile RAM kit (8x 4GB) I have in my desktop machine.

I agree with Jack that you should wait to buy your RAM until you can afford two 4GB sticks in a matched kit instead of buying them one at a time several months apart. Being on a fixed income myself, I can appreciate your need to economize (and the frustration of having to wait) but running unmatched RAM is, at best, a crap shoot (a gamble based purely on chance). Due to manufacturing run differences, unmatched RAM, even though the modules are the same brand and part number, may not play well together. You might experience poorer performance and it's possible the MOBO may even refuse to "see" one or the other stick or even both.

Just a thought.
If the fan on the cooler is in the way can you just install it on the other side. Or remove the fan, install the ram and put the fan back on the cooler in the same location.

As the Lady has pointed out short ram heat sinks will be needed.

Yes that can be done if I take of the stock fan of hyper 212 from one side to another so the slot will be free but I guess I will not have to mess around with the fan as I will be replacing current 4gb ripjaws x (2x 2GB) kit with 8gb HyperX Fury (2x 4GB) kit

Consider how much ram you need before buying more especially if you are on budget. If the most ram that you'll ever need is say 4-5 gb then 16 gb is not going to be any faster than 8 and most of it will remain unused. IMO spend that extra money on something more useful.
