I have been running 7229 x86 since it came out without any issues. Lately, I have notice some websites ask for my user ID and password when I re-visit them. In the past, I would be remain logged in even if I close & re-open IE8. Anyone notice this issue?

i have this trouble too. i running 7260 x86

This is a problem when the password database becomes corrupted. The only way to fix this problem is to clear all passwords and start again. This is not just IE8, it happens on IE7, IE6, etc..

how do you "clear all passwords"?

Are you serious? How can you not know how to clear data?

Tools->Internet Options->Browsing History->Delete, click all the checkboxes, then click delete.

I am serious. I thought I did that already and thought you are suggesting something different. I will repeat it again just to be sure.
Thanks.

I cleared the data but the issue still exist. I tried it two different ways. First time, I check marked everything including "Perserve Favorites website data" and the 2nd time, I check marked everything but unchecked "preserve favorites website data".

Not just IE, FF also has this problem and there to the only way to clear it is by clearing/erasing the passwords and starting all over again unless you have backed up the FF profile. In which case its a simple restore.

Hope this helps

I am using RoboForm to save my login ID and password and I am not counting on IE/FF to store any password. Because of this, I would think my database for password should be empty. Is there a sure way to clear/delete the password database for both IE and FF?
thanks.

Might have helped had you told us that yesterday. If you are storing pwords in roboform and not IE or FF, then thats where you should be looking for the problem. You might want to backup your passwords and uninstall roboform. then re-instal and import your passwords. Make sure roboform can do that first

Hope this helps

Let me describe the issue with more details. Using this website as an example, I log on with "remember me" checked. In the past, I believe I stay logged in no matter how many time I close and re-open IE. Lately, when I visit this site, the site no longer "remember me". After a sucessful log in, the site may remembers me for serveral hours or a day. When I visit the site late, I have to re-enter my user id and password again.

This issue is not just with this website. There are several other sites that I visit regularly and I encounter the same problem.

I don't believe this is an issue with RoboForm but somehow relates to cookies handling of IE.

let me ask you a dumb question. Is your browser set to clear cookies and cache, etc on shutting?

- "Empty temporary internet files folder when browser close" is unchecked.
- no 3rd party software is used to delete IE files when shutting down.
