Solved Unknown computer showing up on network, YOUR-4DACD0EA75. What is it?

I am not 100% certain when it started popping up, but one day browsing through my computer, I noticed under networks, my computer would recognize 3 items: my computer, my computer as a media device, and a second computer named:YOUR-4DACD0EA75. What is this? I am not experiencing anything unusual since making the discovery, with the exception of some very inconsistent shutdowns, which i have not been able to replicate. I am mostly afraid I have some malware, adware, something that doesn't belong.

What is strange though, is that after a clean reinstall, the moment my computer is back on the network, it shows up, without even having the chance to visit any sites online. Any guidance would be especially appreciated!

Yes, it is the same thread, I thought perhaps the original location was not appropriate for the topic. I have googled it, and every reference that comes up, does not touch on this topic in any way, shape, or form. The chance I'm not seeing correctly is also possible, but nothing talks about this unknown computer showing up, and if it is indeed normal, or if I should take action against it.

There are a number of links which point at a gaming server, there's a fair bit of chatter about AVG and malware, as well as emphasis on HP/Compaq machines. Clearly it's generated by some process, connection, or service that your PC is utilising - although whether it's legitimate, or caused by malware, was not immediately clear.

Do you have this folder on your PC...

c:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator.YOUR-4DACD0EA75.000\Desktop

Such folder does not exist on my computer. Whether it makes a difference or not, my pc was not pre-manufactured (not HP, COMPAQ).

It may be part of Google-Talk. I've seen this in a few HijackThis logs. Check to see if Google-Talk shows up in your installed programs list.

Installed and ran the Sophos anti-rootkit, and it found no hidden objects.

Checked for Google-talk in any capacity, and it cannot come up with it anywhere.

I appreciate the input from all, and will continue (patiently, of course) to wait for further assistance. I understand a response may or may not come as quickly as any would hope for, and will wait with that understanding.

If you are curious to any other information regarding my computer, please let me know, and I will share.

*just seen your post Gianni, I will do as you suggest and get back to you!

Hows your network at home set up?

How many devices have you got physically connected

Using a wireless router? is wireless turned on?

Are you using homeplugs?

Do you have the Google toolbar? Google talk is an instant messenger. It may be part of the toolbar or something you loaded from Google. It may also be malware masquerading as Google Talk.

Download Autoruns from Microsoft Sysinternals. There's no install. You can create a desktop shortcut or just double-click on the .exe file. Run it then under Options in the header menu, checkmark Include Empty Locations and Verify Code Signatures. Click the File menu then select Run as Administrator. Under the File menu again, Save the file, ZIP it to reduce size then upload it here. It will be large--About 7+MB.

Forgot to mention: Use the "autoruns.exe" file. The download also includes a command-line version. (Which you don't need.)

Gianni-ran all scans as suggested. Malware bytes came up with no infections, but 12 traces, as indicated by log. TDSSkillerscan came up with 1 threat, MEMSWEEP2 as it had no signature, but is apart of the Sophos root-kit scan i used prior. The other two came up with no infections.

Powerlee-Using a Netgear wireless router/modem as provided by internet provider, there is 1 physical connection (wired, if i understand correctly) Technically 2 including a PS3. My computer connects through a wireless card. Myself and my father both have laptops that occasionally access the network as well, but not often. The computer hooked up directly runs WinXP, all others are Win7.

carwiz-The only google related item would be the search engine toolbar for Firefox with Google set as the search engine. I will do as you suggest and d/l Autoruns and return with the results.

Well, like I stated, the machine hooked up directly is an XP. But this is also the first time I have noticed this before. I also acknowledge the possibility of this existing prior to me noticing it, but it just seemed strange, and wanted to learn what exactly is going on. All assistance from everyone is very much appreciated by me! :D

Have you checked the computer name on the XP machine?

IIRC on XP, Open My Computer icon, System properties, click on computer name & see whats there in the box for full computer name.

Well, would you look at that. After checking the actual name of the computer, it turns out it is indeed my dad's xp machine. Good call PowerLee. Thank you very much for the direction. So, out of curiosity, is that the generic name for pc's with the xp os?

BTW Thanks to everyone else for their input on what turned out to not be an issue at all. I certainly apologize for the unintentional implication that this was a serious issue, but not knowing/understanding something can sometimes make things worse, hence my queries.
