I use MSE by default, but with the chronically-infected suggest they buy the Malwarebytes realtime shield.

I don't really know any paid AV's that work better in the real world, just ones which are not performance drags or problematic. I'd use ESET, Kapersky, TrendMicro, Bitdefender if someone else paid for them.

MSE was not much help when John's dad-in-law clicked a dodgy link. Maybe none would have helped in that case.

Mcafee total protection 2012

Mcafee kill trojans in a way i have never seen before.Yesterday in a download from Cnet it detected and removed a trojan,i mean Cnet,then you are not safe anywhere!
I know a lot of members of this outstanding forum dont like Mcafee,and i dont blame you,but the 2011 version of Mcafee total protection has killed over 50 trojans for me,a "bennefit" of dangerous browsing,and the 2012 version will perform this needed service for me in the near future,and as long it does that i will not change virus software.

The performance problems MucAfee can bring on are not worth it. All AV's find Trojans.

Asser if you continue your 'dangerous' browsing you will at some point find a trojan, worm or root kit that will get past MuckAfee.

i got realtime malwarbytes protection now with avast now trying to give avast a 2nd chance if i get a problem again ill go back to MSE
