Well it was blocking alright. Google says it's a ZoneAlarm product. What's your impression of it, Bill?
Good idea to run an Avast boot scan (if you have 32 bit) and Malwarebytes on-demand scanner just to be sure infection isn't involved.
Were you killing Processes or Services? In the Task manager or services.msc?
I killed anything with FF in the name.. when I did all those .. I noticed the MalwareBytes Icon was no longer in my task bar..
Did you regain functionality after killing ForceField or did it require also killing Malwarebytes Processes? I uninstalled Malware bytes.. as soon as I could get to Control panel>>>uninstall.. Uninstalled Zone Alarm.. then rebooted.. all was back working as usual.
Did you have the Malwarebytes Real Time paid protection? NO I've always used the FREE version.NEVER Had a issue.
I would almost bet against it causing this if killing Forcefield regained control.
I Had trouble KILLING off FF.. had to grab it a few times.. to finally remove it from the listYES I agree.. let's not forget this !!!
Bill?
GREG and A Guy ....Thank You both so very much !!!!
You both have no idea how greatful I am to you both.. hugs
LPt
ps..... I consider this thread Solved..
Hey guys....Zone Alarm is an AV!
If LPt was running Avast and Zone Alarm at the same time that could have crashed her system.
You should only have one primary AV running at one time.
Am I right or wrong?

I saw both of your questions earlier, and dulpicated my situation with Mbam. I would like to share my experience, but feel I should either do it in another thread here in Crashes and Debugging or would it be better in the System Security Forum?
Thanks A Guy,LPT, GregR

If it causes a crash, perhaps here is better. If it is just an oddity, maybe the other. I'd say pick one, admins could always move if needed. A Guy

Bill I just saw this from you.. I've used Avast for years ... FREE version.. no problems at all, as soon as FF was gone from Task Manager, Avast ran, I heard the report when it completed updating.I would go ahead and use MalwareBytes again. ForceField was trying to block it apparently. Here is addres for Threatfire if you are interested. It's perhaps not necessary, but have a read.
