This setting improves performance, but a power outage or hardware failure may result in data loss, so I would strongly recommend a UPS (power backup supply).
HD score 3.0
Seagates 3X500GB RAID 0
Mobo evga 780i
Wow, this time I *should* post a *search the forums* reminder....
For those folks using nForce based mobos and Seagates for HDs (and quite possibly Maxtors too) see http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/342-show-us-your-wei-16.html#post10171
This allows you to leave write caching on and still get amazing performance out of your drives - as they were meant to be used.
I too have an EVGA board and Seagate drives....coincidence?
Sort of - the coincidence is the Seagates and Maxtors, not the mobo - those with nForce based mobos can do something about it right now without disabling write caching. Those without are stuck waiting, especially if disabling write caching still doesn't help.
TBH, I am beginning to wonder if it has to do with a weird implementation of SMART that I read about a while back - if W7 is misdetecting that SMART implementation as Command Queuing implementation, then this could be the whole reason this is happening....
