transfer data through windows 7 by copy and paste perfect copy?

Hello,
I have one internal drive with 1 TB.
The data there is very important to me , so I bought External removable drive for backup.
Now, I want to copy the data from one drive to the second drive but I have to be sure I have a perfect copy of the data.
The data is mostly songs movies and documents.
I'm using windows 7.

My question is this:

1.If I'll transfer the data through windows 7 by copy and paste, I could be sure i have a perfect copy?
2.There are tools for comparison Between the original data to the data that was copied?
If so, what are they?

There is no reason why using copy and paste won't give you a perfect copy and in my view it's more reliable than using the Windows backup utility.

One program I've found invaluable is Microsoft's SyncToy, which you can download here: Download: SyncToy 2.1 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

It will sync files between folders of the same name on two separate drives or partitions ( I always use the Echo procedure).

You might also want to consider using Windows 7's Robocopy function.

If you don't trust the regular copy/paste methods, why not give the free version of Tera Copy a try? It generates a CRC checksum over each transaction and runs a verify to make sure the operation was ok

Synctoy seemed to be good software for file backups after reading this post i decided to give it a try.
Its simple tool and does what it says but I noticed some things.
1) in echo mode it does not reverse if some changes are made in right folder.
for example you add, delete or edit some files/folders in right side and when you sync you do not get sync with left side.. seems only to notice and sync changes from left side.. thats sad :/ if you want to keep mirror copy of left side you have to be careful to prevent all changes except made by synctoy to the right side.
2) It kills my network.. yes thats how it is if I sync to network share. my network just dies no internet connection etc.
It seems that synctoy eats all the traffic and overloads swiches and router.
Sync operation works fine but internet or other network operations gets very bad
usually no internet or ping gets from around 1ms to 700ms or more.

so i think robocopy is better but you need some understanding of command line.
or use FreeFileSync
