Best way to connect a coaxial TV?

Hey, so I'm not looking for any fancy HTPC proper setup yet, as from my understanding that can be quite expensive.

I have an old TV I'd like to hook up as another monitor, but the TV's only input is a coaxial nub.

Possible connections on fiance's computer:
(Newegg.com - ASRock 890GX PRO3 AM3+ AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard)
DVI
VGA
Optical S/PDIF
(HDMI in use)

I'm looking for the most cost-effective way to connect them. Perhaps a converter, cable, or pci card? Audio would be a plus, but not necessary.
Would it even be possible to get both audio and video sent through? Would the Optical S/PDIF do that?

I don't know of any hardware that would convert, at least cost effectively, a PC's video output to the analog type of signal that a co-axial input requires - it would require emulation and since the co-axial standards are way below PC display capabilities what would really be the point?

It's possible that some kind of set top box might just do what you want, but I'd prefer to spend money on a nice monitor than waste it on something which, at best, will only produce a fairly poor image.

Well they make rf modulators that will turn a s-video into a standard coax signal.
I suppose out there somewhere is one that will do it with dvi.
Or perhaps you could convert to composite and run it through a old vcr or something.

Just an extra TV that was laying around. No big money for anything of a decent new monitor, but figured this might be worth a few little bucks. Thanks for the input, though. =)

keep in mind it's maximum possible resolution is somewhere around 580x360

He just reminded me of the one all important reason he wants it: to throw Youtube over there so he can maximize everything else that he's working on. So that'll be fine enough.

Would these 2 work? I already have leftover coaxials from the cable guy.

using both of the above would probably be the cheapest way to hook up that TV.
I couldn't find a VGA converter that had an RF output, which would have been an all in one solution.

IMO the best way to do this would be to use a USB TV receiver on your computer - these are cheap enough now -- probably far cheaper than finding hardware to convert RF output (Coaxial) to Video and audio analog out and then having to convert THAT to VGA for your computer.

The modern USB devices will pick up Terrestial Digital TV too. Makes like Hauppage only cost around 35 - 40 USD and you'll get far better reception than from an old "Tube" type TV.

Some of these also have audio / video extra inputs as well so you could feed a cable box / satellite receiver output into this stick to play on your computer too.
