In system configuration, services tab, there is a service called 'lxdu_device. In the 'manufacturer column' it says 'unknown'.

Anyone here smarter than Microsoft  and does know?

Anyways, lxdu_device points to Lexmark.

lxdu-device What/who are you?

Thank you for your response.
Google had pointed the 'lx' tag to Lexmark, but it didn't make sense, because I don't use a Lexmark printer. However, rooting around in the system I see one is indeed installed. Must be when someone came to use my equipment.

Well MS (Win7) says 'unknown'. Someone who does know is smarter. And you tagged it immediately.

Because it is a computer, it only knows what it is told, it does not have magic powers. The developer of the service failed to provide the information necessary for the computer to display the requested information. Computers do not have magic powers where they can fill in blanks for missing information. No system, be it Unix, Linux or Mac OS.

It doesn't make me smarter then Microsoft or Windows because I can look it up on some internet search page. Which is all I did.

So I stand disabused of three notions: 1) Lexmark is not one of the major printers, and could slip thru the database-cracks; 2) We should cease delivering sacramental offerings to our computers, because their powers are all endowed by man; 3) My sense of humor is somewhere out in left-field.
