I recently attempted to clean my brother's computer after he aquired a virus from the torrent file program he uses. Regardless, I cleaned a trojan and a backdoor from his system from safe mode. I can not boot in normal mode. Everytime i try the system gets hung up at the windows loading screen then the screen turns black and sits there. I have to hard reboot. I ahve used a repar CD and i have come across an error 0x800700b7, i have also recived this when i tried to work around this problem "identifier {9dea862c-5cdd-4e70-acc1-f32b344d4795}"

OS= Win 7

You can spend a lot of time trying to fix the boot problem and clean the virus from the computer, or you can nuke it and reinstall Windows. I wouldn't bother trying to fix it, personally - I'd back up what I could and then I'd install Windows again.

You didn't mention what programs you use to remove the bad things.
Download/Update and run full scan with Malwarebytes Anti Malware to make sure you are clean.
After that cmd/prompt/admin and type in sfc /scannow and run two or three times booting after each time.

I intially used Symantic and then I tried to install AVG while in safemode. It seems i can not. SEP work to kill the bugs but still seems my interenet has hijacked. Periodlcly the internet will redirect me to someother website. I have used sfc only b/c of what ive read but what does it do?

Download a legal ISO of your Windows version, burn it to a disc, reinstall, and activate using your existing Product Key.

Do you know where i can find my product key? There is not CD with the comp. Is there something on the computer has it? Also, Where do you recommend getting the ISO?

If you want to try again to disinfect and then repair the System files, follow these steps for when Windows 7 fails to boot .

Look for the COA sticker on bottom of laptop or back/side of tower, make sure the Product Key is readable:
1270558000_86224332_1-Pictures-of--Buying-Windows-7-Prof-COA-Sticker-Only-100pcs-up-Needed.jpg

Tell us the licensed version listed on the COA sticker and we'll provide an ISO file to burn to DVD or write to flash stick, boot to clean reinstall following these steps: Reinstalling Windows 7

SFC checks Windows System Files and in many cases fixes them.

Does the laptop have a COA sticker? If so, the key and the version (Ultimate/Enterprise/etc) will be on it.

Remove the Product Key from your post now. This is the key to use to activate Win7 and not the licensed version. Tell us the Win7 version listed on the sticker.
