Music files not accepting details changes

When I reformatted my computer I backed up my music onto a separate hard drive, after the format it all got put back onto my computer again but after the move some music files refuse to accept changes to their file details i.e. changes to genre, track title, album artist etc. I have full permissions to modify files and it will allow me to make changes either in WMP or in file properties, but as soon as I set the new details it will snap back to the previous version like I'd never touched them.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, I checked to make sure I have ownership of the files and I'm the administrator, so permission to modify shouldn't be the issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

something to try, rightclick the WMP shortcut and choose 'Run as Administrator'
now make your changes and see if they 'stick'

Just had the same problem, pulled my hair out, simple fix, right click your music folder in Windows Explorer, in the menu open share with, probably nobody is checked go down to specific people, click on everyone and it will let you change anything you want.
