Shawn was the main reason for me to stick around.

I asked for help in Vista forum 4 years ago and that friendly alien solved the problem in a second.

Since we are talking about if any people have met, this is one I have often wondered about. John is in England and Brink is in Texas. As far as I know they are the two top guys. How did that relationship come about and have the two of you ever met?

No we haven't met and he worked his way up from member over at VF.

I had just switched over to 64-bit Vista after only working with XP for a few months back then, and was looking for a good place that discussed the new 64-bit Vista. The rest was fate, and I've been happy ever since with our second home and family here.

It was because of Shawn that I first went to VF, I read a post of his in one of the newsgroups, that was before Microsoft abandoned their servers, his post had a link the VF so I went to have a look and I've been around ever since, you poor lot.

I have this history of always being the last to know. What do you mean "Microsoft

Microsoft had their own servers hosting their own newsgroups but decided to give them up to concentrate on forums instead, like the Answers one and all the Tech forums.
The newsgroups didn't go away though as some other newsgroup companies hosted them, that is why Microsoft never had a Windows 7 newsgroup of their own that was started I believe on one of the Alt. groups.

That's my quick explanation of the situation but I expect someone could give you a better take on it.
