Can't Empty Recycle Bin Or Open It! What Do I Do? [Windows 7]

I woke up, and I downloaded a bunch of stuff the night before, and wanted to move it onto an external HDD, cause I was running out of room. But when I put all my external HDD's into the computer, they don't show up. Now I'm at only 12 GB's left on my computer, so I deleted a bunch of things to create room, but I can't open up my recycle bin OR empty it. I have no idea what to do. Most of everything on the computer is unresponsive and goes very slow. Also I noticed when I delete something, or do anything, I have to click refresh in order to see the change.

Does anyone know what to do? I'm freaking out, and I'm ready to take a sledge and do something I know I'll regret! Please help!

I have that program, but when I click it, it doesn't let me get into it.

I don't think it's a malware thing though. The computer was fine last night before I went to sleep. But when I woke up, all this happened. I'm thinking it because I only have 12 GB's left on my computer. Maybe it's screwing it up? Which is why I'm trying to delete stuff, but it's not allowing me to permanently delete anything to free up space.

Also I can't hear anything on the computer. The audio is not working. I can't watch any video, or listen to any audio

If we had your system specs we might be able to tell you.

I doubt it is the HD free space that is the issue.

Try booting into safemode and running Malwarebytes.

How do I find the system specs?

Also, I tried booting into safe mode, and it took really long, and never went into it, and just booted normally. I was able to empty my recycle bin once I got in, but I can't do it anymore. The external HDD is still not showing up when I put it in.

Might have to do a repair install if you have the win 7 dvd.

No, I don't have the disc. I'd hate to reboot the whole computer, cause I can't get the external HDD's to work, so I wouldn't be able to transfer all the files I want to save.

I'm going to move this to General Discussions

We need more information please:

System specs, how many hard drives, what did you download etc. etc.

A screenshot of your fully expanded disk management layout would be a big help too.

Have you tried a system restore point to a time when you know your computer was OK?

Have you visited any dodgy sites that could have infected your computer?

Have you run a full virus scan?

You can use a program called specy to help you with the system specs.

Also try running a full system scan with either Malwarebytes or MSE.

Once you have found your system specs, go to the top of your page under user cp and enter them.

They will then be easy for members to view by clicking my system specs located in the lower lefthand corner of any of your posts.

Thanks Fabe

IMPORTANT: The following procedure permanently deletes all files and folders which are already in the Recycle Bin (from all user accounts in the system) and cannot be recovered.

1. Open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

2. Type the following command and press ENTER: rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

This clears out the $Recycle.bin folder for the C:\ drive. You may have to do this for each hard disk partition in your system. Change C to the letter of them.

3. Type exit to close the Command Prompt window.

I updated my system specs, if I left out anything important, let me know.

What I downloaded, were just episodes from a tv-show. I had no problems with it, and left my computer on over night say they can finish when I woke up, and planned on moving them onto my external HDD.

I just tried a system restore, but I still have the same problem. And I've only visited the same sites I normally do, which don't give me any problems.

As far as Malwarebytes, I open it up, and run it, but after a few seconds, like with most of the other programs, it freezes and forces me to close it. Every time I restart the computer, I can do a few things, like listen to music, watch a movie, etc, but then it freezes.

Get all your stuff of the pc and we`ll do a reinstall. Do you have your key ? Make a list of all the software you have installed. Did you pay for it ? Do you have any keys you need for the software ?

Forgot to ask , do you have a recovery partition.
Can you post a shot of disk management ?

Start button, right click computer, click manage, wait, left hand side click disk management. Push print screen key 1 time, ( top row on keyboard ) open paint, paste and name the pic, save it to your desktop. Attach it to your next post.

I don't have a key. I'm not really sure about the recovery partition.

I'm having trouble getting a shot of disk management. I'm clicking the print key, but nothing's happening.

You don`t click the print screen key , you push it with your finger. It`s on the keyboard top row. Re-Read my instructions. Do it exactly as I wrote it.

Did you buy this pc ? There is no Certificate of Authenticity on it anywhere? That will have the activation code on it.

The print screen key is usually written Prt Scr and on the top row of the keyboard.

Nothings gonna happen when you push it. Push it once then open paint and paste it there. It says paste right there in the top left corner of paint. Come on man

You gotta get that uploaded so we can help you.
When you get it to your desktop, use the paperclip in the post reply to attach it.
