i need help getting my computer down to bare bones programs... i have OCD like this.

the ONLY things ill be using this computer for is:

itunes
internet surfing (youtube videos, forums, google etc.)
itunes
mild gaming (no games installed yet)
and maybe some word processing

i would like to uninstall everything off my programs list thats not essential to me, to clean this thing out as much as possible.

so i would greatly greatly appreciate it if someone went through this list and told me everything thats safe to remove that wont cause issues.. thanks guys.

Rather than wade through all of that, I would instead download a Windows 7 ISO from mydigitallife.info, burn it to disk, and then do a clean install from that burned disk. The new install won't have any of that HP stuff and will just be Windows itself.

From that point on, see if you can do what you need to do with built-in Windows utilities and applications.

If it turns out you have a task that Windows doesn't do natively, then investigate and download or buy the best app for that particular purpose.

I fully agree with this advise. This would be the best way to go. You can download the Windows 7 ISO image from Download Windows 7 ISO (Official 32-bit and 64-bit Direct Download Links) « My Digital Life

I find in the later message of yours that you want to follow the path outlined in your original message. In that case first uninstall everything beginning with "HP" in the list posted by you and then again upload a screenshot of the remaining items. This will make pinpointing of the other programs to be uninstalled easier to me.

Rather than wade through all of that, I would instead download a Windows 7 ISO from mydigitallife.info, burn it to disk, and then do a clean install from that burned disk. The new install won't have any of that HP stuff and will just be Windows itself.

Why do you want to uninstall those programs. Are you short in disk space ?? If not, I would not worry about those programs that sit quietly in the program library.

The OP is suffering from a disorder according to his first post. He probably can't help himself and would otherwise suffer anxiety about something being unclean, out of order, or inappropriate.

Now you can uninstall the following.

1. Synaptics pointing device driver

2. All apps starting with Microsoft Visual C++

3. Advise on All apps starting with CISCO is as follows.

Those are three authentication technologies for networking.

LEAP Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol, developed by Cisco, it allows for rotating WEP keys for wireless encryption, it's based on MS-CHAP authentication by Microsoft. This is outdated and should not be used unless necessary.

PEAP is a joint venture between Microsoft, Cisco, and RSA for secure TLS tunneling with PKI certificates as authentication.

EAP FAST is the new version of LEAP.

Those are most likely part of your wireless package. If you do not use wireless, you can remove them.

After this please repost the final snapshot to easily identify a few remaining stragglers.

I think you should leave it here. One can suggest a few more Apps for uninstalling but you might need them at one time or another in the future. However if you are not using IE (8 or 9) and Windows Media Player then you may uninstall them too.

Read here Remove Internet Explorer and more with the Windows Features tool | TechRepublic. I have removed them both because I use Chrome as my Browser and iTunes and VLC for my video and music files. There has been no repercussion on this account.

Good luck.

so so far, ive followed instructions on here on how to set up a clean boot, installed ccleaner and got rid of tons of junk, went through my programs list and got it down to bare bones, and ran windows features to get rid of internet explorer and windows media player, etc.

is there anything else i can do to clean this guy out?
