I have been getting some pretty bad blue screens lately the first one started out as the "Stop 0x00000101 "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" BSOD but then I stopped receiving those and started getting "machine_check_exception__Stop: 0x0000009C" though I have got the 0x00000101 two times after the machine check exception BSODS started. So I have included some OS information, my hardware specs, and I have attached a perform report and my Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 file and followed the steps exactly. Though I did zip each folder up then zip the zipped folders together for some inception effect :P

Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
It is the original OS on the harddrive
OEM version
I purchased my PC custom built a little over a year ago
The OS has been re installed once since then.

Hardware Specs;
CPU; i7 940 at stock speeds because i'm not comfortable with overclocking
GPU; HiS AMD Radeon 5870
PSU; Zalman 850W
RAM; 8GB, 4gb is patriot G series the other 4gb is g2 series
HDD; 5 Different hard drives >.> I know it's like why so many but it was how the PC came and for the price and components it was worth it.
Mobo; EVGA x58 SLI LE

Thank you ahead of time for any help anyone can provide! :]

The first steps I took was uninstalling the 4GB of G2 RAM because that is the newest hardware installed. Machine seemed stable for about 12 hours and then could not get back into windows without a machine check exception BSOD. I reset the cmos, swapped out my 5870 for an older Nvidia 9500 GT, still recieved the BSODs. After this I put the other 4GB of ram back into my machine and ran memtest+86 for 2 hours and 15 minutes with no errors. I did some websurfing, turned on netflix, and got the machine check BSOD, after that I went into the CMOS and changed my RAM speeds to 800 MHz BSOD still. After I tried that I went into the CPU and disabled Turbo Boost mode and machine check exception before windows could start. Then I disabled HT tech and Turbo boost and was able to boot up, though just to load, start up, my background, and my shortcuts it took about 15-20 minutes.

If you have the DMPS we could use them. It feels like hardware but need the dmps to verify it.

I have the dump files attached with the performance monitor scan in my original post or does dmps mean something besides my dump files? In which case please tell me how I can provide you with that information and I will do so promptly :] thank you!

The uploaded file contains only one DMP file from 3 days ago. It was related to hardware. If you have been crashing since your control panel may not be configured correctly, or you may be crashing before the service for writing the DMP file has even started.

I can't get it to boot at all, I had one successfull boot with RAM clocks at 9,9,9,25, HT, Turbo boost disabled, and only 2 cores active. First time under these settings after the windows logo loaded I recieved a BSOD the 2nd time it booted, though after I typed in my pass, and the background loaded, the ports on the back of my mobo stopped responding so I couldn't use my mouse, keyboard, or access internet from it.

I am considering buying a new AM3+ motherboard, and an AMD FX CPU, that would be about equal in price to replacing my current CPU and I can afford that. My psu, ram, gpu, and HDDs would still be compatible. Suggestions? Thanks for the help so far though zigzag I appreciate it very much :]

Should be a good psu....But you might/do want to have it tested first. It could have failed, or worse yet be running out of voltage spec....Don't want to zap the new motherboard:).....

Here is a FX-8150 8 core 3.6g Newegg.com - AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8150FRGUBOX $249.99....If you have a good cooler already, that works with AM3 then you can save $10.00 with this Newegg.com - AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8150FRW8KGU - Processors - Desktops

Here is a nice Asrock board: 2/16x slots running 16/4: 2 1x and 2PCI slots....Five 6 SATA $84.99 Newegg.com - ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

A budget buster, but if you want to crossfire at 16x Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TA990FXE AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS $129.99

It may be just me....but no way would I trust that PSU, especially with such a expensive chip and board:confused:

You also realize that even the top end FX chip will not even be close to the i7 in performance, and the patch is not much help either.....Rather than get the one mentioned why not a good PII? Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition Deneb 3.7GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor HDZ980FBK4DGM - Processors - Desktops It has a proven track record and it's a true quad core:)

Before I would write off the i7 I would try a different Power Supply....Make sure the power button works...ect

I don't have the money to replace the PSU and then fix the machine if it's not i'm quite sure it's the PSU, I took off my h50, and it was practically burnt to the motherboard, seems before I bought this the previous owner must have been OCing the crap out of this CPU.

And the games I play I won't notice the difference between the i7 and AMD despite intel and it's greater infrastructure I just need a few cores clocked around 3ghz being that my i7 is only stock 2.93 and 3.2 turbo boost..anything AMD 3.5Ghz+ should fare nicely. I have no objection going with P2 BE I haven't kept up with the market lately so I made a snap decision for the FX. So what makes the BE a true quad core and FX not? Is the FX dual with 2 virtual cores?

Ok that explains a lot...I hate when someone overclocks then fails to tell that to the person they sell said item too.

When AMD made the FX They designed it so two cores share some architecture, making a module...so the eight core FX has four modules that can handle 8 "threads".....meanwhile the p2 has 4 cores that stand alone:)....

Yes in theory a 32nm chip would be better, but the design of the chip comes into play also.....

So how would I be able to test if my mobo or CPU are still functional? Because despite my plans to switch to an AMD setup I could still sell my CPU and Mobo for a good amount of money instead of scrapping potentially good parts.

My persistence to find out the problem has lead to something weird to happen. So I decided to boot up my BSOD rig and try to get it to boot since I hadn't been able to, I did all the things I stated before in different order. Then after no success of getting into safe mode or to boot at all I changed the clock multiplier and OC'ed the CPU to 3.2 and was able to successfully boot into safe mode.
