If the only place it is showing is CCleaner, on the cleaner tab, it isn't installed. It is just listed on CCleaner so you can clean it if you want to.

I've already uninstalled Ccleaner and reinstalled it, and it still appears.

Not sure. Two possible reasons are that it is always part of the list whether you have ever installed it or not (easier than having the cleaner program search to see if a common program is installed) or could be that when you uninstalled CCleaner it left a remnant list of programs.
Chrome usually installs in the Program folder (and leaves old versions when ever it updates) but will occasionally install in the folder the downloaded install program was in (usually if you install from a non-admin account). The way it installs is why I don't use it any more, it's rubbish (the installer not the browser which is okay).
If you are still thinking it is installed somewhere, just search for chrome(dot)exe. That file will be in the folder chrome is installed to.

It was called ChromeInst and it was in :
OS(C:/ computer/program files/AVAST Software/ Avast/chrome

I tried to uninstall it, using Malwarebytes/File Assassin.
As luck would have it, (..it, they, them,) said I had to have administrator privilege.
But that bums me right out, because it is my computer, and I should have the privilege to put an axe thru it , if I so choose.

I think your okay, that is just the installer file. I don't think you have Google Chrome installed.
You also need to be careful as lots of programs have files named Chrome; usually they are files that hold settings especially ones that affect program appearance. The file you found wasn't in a folder for google so it wasn't the right one.

What is preventing you from accessing the files in "C:/documents and settings/username/local settings/application data/google chrome"? In case it's not obvious to you, you have to substitute your username for username above. So if your username on your computer is inouno, then you would need to look in the "C:/documents and settings/inouno/local settings/application data/google chrome" folder.

It appears to me that you don't have Google Chrome on your computer (perhaps you did at one time) and the user data was left behind after Chrome was uninstalled and that is what CCleaner is seeing. If you get those files in your application data folder it won't show up in CCleaner anymore.

You don't have Chrome installed. CCleaner just thinks you do. Not to be a wise guy, but just ignor it. CCleaner shows Adobe reader for me, and I don't have it installed. A Guy

I have been searching for a solution via this thread, and have ,through the assistance of you guys, found answer enough to satiate me.

And I thank you all.

As luck would have it, a new question has developed ( through this process)

I cannot access C:/documents and settings/username/local settings/application data/

The closest I can get, is C:/users/username/ (then just the normal stuff)
But, it appears to me that I don't have access to all these other files.
Now, I want access to them...I want to view them, I want to change them if I so choose.

If this constitutes a new thread, then so be it.
