Hi, my laptop is overheating and wasting power because it is always running my ATI Radeon mobility graphics card. I have switchable graphics, and I want the computer to ALWAYS start up using Intel HD graphics.

I cannot find ANY settings to make Intel HD the default graphics card.

I have tried uninstalling ATI radeon graphics card. It always reinstalls AND SWITCHES to it on startup.

How can I make Intel HD the primary graphics card(PREFERRED), or completely remove ATI radeon so it never reinstalls the drivers after I have uninstalled it?

Thanks

There would be an option in your BIOS to disable/enable onboard graphic chip. Also look for something along the lines 'Init Display first' (though these differ bios to bios) and select 'Onboard' or similar equivalent option.

You can also disable your radeon card through Device manager. Open Start menu, type 'Device Manager' and select it from the list displayed. Look for the card>right click>disable.

If unsure, post a screenshot and we'll work you out through the steps.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried disabling the radeon card, it re-enables when I restart the computer.
I tried looking through the bios and couldn't find anything but I will look again.

What BIOS you have? Manufacturer? Brand? These are be displayed when you start your computer during the POST screen.
If the screen pass by too quickly to read something, press the 'Pause/Break' key at the POST screen and note the info down. You may then press "Home' key to resume boot.
