I installed Windows XP Mode and it seems to be working OK. Then I read the instruction about using the CPU's virtual hardware. I turn on the BIOS Virtualization and Windows XP Mode stopped working. I think I need to uninstall Windows XP Mode, then turn on the CPU's Virtualization and then re-install Windows XP Mode.

DO YOU AGREE??? and do you think it is worth the time and effort???

CPU Virtualization vs Software Virtualization.

I uninstalled Windows XP Mode, then turn on the CPU's Virtualization and re-install Windows XP Mode. Windows XP Mode also works installed this way. I guess using the CPU's Virtualization is more efficent than using software Virtualization but I can not be sure of this.

I noticed that XP Mode complains that there is no Virus Checking Softwarw installed even though I have the software installed in Windows 7. I don't think it is necessary to install virus software in XP Mode but if anyone knows for sure I would appreciate them letting me know.

Hello GMSTONE, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yep, XP Mode will require it's own AV program to be installed since it's a separate OS than Windows 7.

Be sure to get Microsoft Security Essentials for your XP Mode:
