BSoD with "STOP:0x00000024" error and "Ntfs.sys"

Basic system description:
Desktop PC about 2 years old with:
Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
RAM amount: 8GB
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 OEM 64 bit
Graphics Cards (I have two installed and software controllable CrossFire): AMD Radeon HD4850 driving 4 monitors. Driver version 8.961.0.0
Hard drive: 1 TB Western Digital WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B1

Crash situation and background:
The system tends to crash with no application running or all applications running. By "applications" I mean -other than standard chart and browsers:
1. Battlefield 3 Limited Edition.
2. Sierra Chart: Sierra Chart - Futures, Stocks, Forex Charting and Trading Software Platform
3. InteractiveBrokers.com
4. Picasa
5. Adoble Lightroom 4

Last week, I installed the latest drivers for most and including the video card drivers after a whole series of BSoD and also UNINSTALLED Battlefield 3 ... I thought I fixed the problem and this computer feels slightly faster, etc. Today, while I was away and while the computer is running item 2 and 3, the computer gave me a BSoD as per attached screen shot.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello rting,
You have quite a few different types of crashes there.
Before we investigate the underlying causes it would be wise to do the following.

1. Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

2. McAfee is a frequent cause of BSOD's.
I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST!

1. The link is for a different motherboard. I have the Asus P5Q-E. You have two motherboards specified there ... P7P55D LE and P5K VM ... which one works? Or I should just look for the same thing for P5Q-E?

2. I will not buy McAfee again! What is MCPR.exe? What does it do? Uninstall McAfee?

Not sure if I should uninstall McAfee since I paid for it? :sarc::shock:

So far no BSD as yet but if there is more BSoD, I will uninstall McAfee.

Asacpi.sys is a huge problem. If you dont continue to crash you dont need to remove McAfee. If you do, you should. Might be the perfect opportunity to try a different malware that doesnt crash as often

The Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out of screen saver is an ongoing problem.

It might. asacpi.sys is Asus version of the Automatic Configuration Power Interface so it is possible.

If nothing else, I believe my issues are probably resolved. Found at least 1 faulty memory module.
