Should i upgrade to x64

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I'm using windows 7 32bit at the min but i have a legit copy of 64bit and wondered if it is worth while upgrading.

Any thoughts very grateful.

Mostly depends on how you use the system. 64bit supports more memory, so if you use graphic intense programs or the like, it would help if you were to add additional memory. Sometime, in the future, more programs will be written to take advantage of 64bit OS, but not so much today.

I prefer 32 bit on 4gb RAM or less, but it also depends on the processor strength. You don't want to upgrade RAM too much if there's a weak processor Check that it's 64 bit capable.

Some of your RAM is reserved for hardware. YOu can see a graph of this by typing Resource Monitor into Start Search box, then clicking on the Memory tab.

You are entitled to run either 32- or 64-bit with any Win7 license no matter what OEM manufacturer tries to tell you or how they limit driver availability - I've always been able to find them. Just use this method if applicable to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I have found 64 bit to be faster, more secure, less problematic than 32 bit and that is on a system with 4 GB.
