I am trying Suns VB 3.0.2 on Win7 64bit build 7232 with XP3

I have read the manual.

I added Guest Additions, unmounted cd, I have auto resize guest window on.

Yet when I garb the corner to garb and make the VM window larger- the Guest app remains at a static fixed size small.

I can get full screen but again the guest app size remains unchanged.

Auto adjust guest display

Also, check the guest reolution

This touched on one of the "issues" I have with VBox - video anomolies when resizing the window.

Thanks Antman

I see in my session info runtime apps that Guest Additions not detected and a screen resolution of 640 x 480.

I have tried reset/reboot of the VM and no joy.

I cant find where to change the screen resolution.

Is there another option for VM?

I cant get the MS one to install.

Yes, VMWare makes a number of products for virtualization. The free option is VMWare Server 2.0. This is what I use at work exclusively, however depending upon what you are trying to accomplish, it may or may not be your best choice. For example, VMWare Server doesn't support any 3d graphics capabilities like the new VirtualBox does.

My apologies for the slow response - had a court date. We prevailed. Again.

So, Guest Additions is NOT installed or running? Easily confirmed by checking the SysTray in the XP guest - the Guest Additions is either there or not. Please confirm.

If Guest Additions is not installed or running, you can mount the virtual ISO and install it from within the XP guest. I think that is how I got it to correct a similar error. You can also install it from the host window, but I am pretty sure I "had to do it" from the XP guest.

This new 3.x version is not as well behaved as the previous 2.whatever I first used.

I have only used the VMware Workstation trial. It was like Alabama iced tea. Sweet and smooth. $189. I need virtual XP to view streaming video in WiMP with Edgestream client. VirtualXP will do it, but looks like ****. VMware will do it, looks fine, no problem. VBox does it for free, but I do experience anaomolies resizing windows.

No apologies necessary, I appreciate your help. Thank you. We are all busy.
Guest Additions are not running. I tried unmount virtualcd/dvd then install guest additions and nothing happened.

Once you go into Virtual Box and tell it to install the VM Additions, you have to go into the guest, go to My Computer and find the CD/DVD drive with that mounted ISO file from the virtual box additions and you run the setup.exe. Are you going into the guest OS and installing them????

You rock!

I have never used VM and don't get its underlying principles!

I had no idea I needed to also complete the install in the Guest OS as well!

I launched VirtualBox then its Guest OS (I installed XP SP3). Then went to the drives section of explorer in the guest OS and found the .exe I needed to complete the install!

After using VboxWindowsAditions.exe I received the following:

Now my Sessions Info Window says!

And guess what!

I can scale the window to any size or even full screen!

Thank you pparks!
