I run Vista on one of my pcs. It's a 7 year old pc and it runs Vista pretty well. (it even has aero enabled)

Same here windude99 I have an old Compaq that came with XP but seems to run Vista better when it was installed properly after SP1 reinforcing MWred's assertion that Vista is still a good OS.

How old is old? I've had just the opposite experience. All the games except 1, that I played on my 32 bit XP box play just fine on my Windows 7 64 bit PC. One game wouldn't install but that was because it tried to install a 32 bit driver as part of its DRM. Windows 7 blocked it and the game wouldn't install without it. The last time I looked the game maker didn't offer a 64 bit version or patch.

How old are these games and which games? I see statements like this from time to time and I always wonder. I just find that i don't really play a lot of my really old games. I've always got new games to keep me occupied.

Really old games (as in Alley Cat old) aren't a problem: they're so old they can simply be chucked into the DosBox emulator. The problem is the stuff around the time of the early Windows games, like say Wizardry 8 - some lucky people can install no problems on x64 but most the rest of us, no dice. It's sufficiently advanced enough to give problems for XP mode's primitive video drivers (S3 Trio, lol, brings back memories). Most Visual Novels don't play nice on x64 either, although XP mode does help with many of them since they don't tend to be graphically taxing.

The less said about intrusive DRM the better - if it does become a problem I'll just pick up a clean version.
