I remember in earlier versions of windows I could put my computer to sleep and still have some functionality.. such as audio. How do I shut the display and still hear my audio? If I put the computer to sleep, the audio also shuts down.

Welcome 11rich11 to the windows 7 forums.

One way to not allow your computer to go to sleep when you shut the lid on your computer is to go to power settings and change the setting for "choose what closing the lid does" and select " do nothing". this way the computer screen will most likely go blank but everything else will be fine.

I can't recall ever putting a windows computer into sleep mode and still being able to listen to music with it, but you can certain close the display without your computer going into sleep mode. Go to Control Panel > Power Options. You should see a link on the left hand side that says "Choose what closing the lid does." For both "on battery" and "plugged in," chance the setting to "Do Nothing." Click save changes.
